Module Title: Hardware Realisation of a Computer System

Date: 2019/20 Academic Year - Semester 1

Reflection on the student feedback:

This was the second time I delivered the 3002CEM module. The MEQ result shows that the overall student satisfaction for this module is 100%, compared against the 58.4% of the last semester. Overall, the module was delivered well and students appreciated the effort put by the lecturer.

Regarding assessment and feedback, the MEQ survey shows that:

• 100% of the students agree that marking criteria have been clearly explained in advance.
• 100% of the students agree that marking and assessment have been fair.
• 100% of the students agree that they have received helpful and timely feedback on their work.

In order to improve the overall satisfaction rate further, following changes would be considered for the next academic year:

• Asking IT Services to fix a bug in a software program installed on the lab PCs which is used for this module.
• Adding further hands-on experiments to the lab sessions.
• Running lab sessions at a slower pace so that everyone finds it easy to catch up.

Long-term plan:

• Teach 3001CEM module in the first semester and this module in the 2^nd semester. This will help students to understand the processor architecture and design first before implementing it using HDL/FPGA.

Finally, I will wait for the final results to see how students perform in the module and adjust the plan accordingly.
