The focus of this workshop is on designing our teaching materials and activities so that they are as accessible as possible to our students. As we engage with students from an increasingly diverse range of backgrounds, including international students and disabled students, it is crucial to develop inclusive approaches to teaching in order to maximise their chances of success.
“Accessibility involves designing systems to optimise access. Being inclusive is about giving equal access and opportunities to everyone wherever possible. In education this involves reducing and overcoming the barriers that might occur in digital content, teaching and learning activities (and) assessments” (Jisc website). All students benefit from accessibility, not just international students and those with disabilities.
