Once in a while we receive enquiries about events where we have to say "I'm sorry, that's too far. We would need to charge for overnight accommodation" - and it isn't that simple finding a hotel that will accept a booking for two handlers and a dozen or so snakes and lizards. However, once in a while we think "We can't do that .... hold on, can we?"
So when we received an email from a Nursing Home in Abertillery asking if we could visit for an hour one afternoon we were going to decline. Then we remembered Luc has family not that far away and, although they've heard about the reptiles and what we do, they've never actually met them.
It took a couple of days to arrange to stay for a few nights and for a second handler to book time off work (yes, Emma and Jane do have "real" jobs as well), but we were happy to be able to say "Yes, we'd love to attend" - and we had a wonderful time!
