First Contact

One of the things I do is search for new public bookings for Reptile Events, either on the internet, or spotting posters when I'm out and about, then make the first contact to see if we could attend the event.

At the start of summer it's crazy as there are so many fairs and fetes, but once the schools have broken up it becomes harder. Having said that, I've managed to arrange a few new events coming up in the next month, and last night I had a very positive response from another, so keep an eye on the Recent Announcement tab.

Making contact is quite an art too! I'm all too aware that some people have a real phobia about snakes (that included me until four or five years ago) so I don't start off with "Your event + our reptiles = fun!", but then again I try to ensure that we come across as the small, community based (but competent) outfit that we are. I also try to tailor my approach to the event, which can be fun.

Sometimes we get a straight "No", sometimes no response at all, often "That sounds interesting; tell me more" and occasionally "Yes! Just what we need!" It's an interesting world out there ....
