Petts Wood May Fayre 2012

Post date: May 10, 2012 7:41:08 PM

The Petts Wood May Fayre is one of the events we've always felt most at home at, and this year was no exception - and the weather was better than expected! It starts with the May Queen's procession through the town (although we didn't take part in that - snakes don't process very well), before the crowning of the new May Queen, followed by maypole dancing, Scottish country dancing and all sorts of other events, accompanied by stalls run by local groups.

The procession was led by the Bloco Fogo Samba Band, and you will see from their blog page http://blocofogo.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/petts-wood-may-fayre-2012.html that they were quite taken with our snakes.

We were also thrilled to meet again a lady who keeps one of our very favourite inspirational websites; "Yellow Teddy" goes out and about, making wonderful observations of the type of things that most people wouldn't even notice, and we feel honoured to have a glowing write-up from her http://www.lucypaintbox.org.uk/YELTED/Archive-Yellow-Teddy-Diary-2012-May-Aug.htm (and we agree that orange is a wonderful colour for both lizards and dinosaurs!

Petts Wood also saw the first public event at which our "Name Our Snake" competition was run, and we received a number of good suggestions which may well be held back for new smaller snakes if not selected for our new Burmese python, who is currently referred to as "Snake X".
