A few weeks ago we had a 'phone call from a company of estate agents in Belgravia - no, we're not in the market for a multi-million pound sanctuary, but they wanted our help. They explained that, once a year, Knight Frank challenges all their UK branches and departments to do something to raise money for charity, and this branch had decided to have a Reptile Day.
We were more than happy to assist, and loaded up the car with snakes and lizards and made our way to their office not too far away from Buckingham Palace. Apparently they were a little concerned when a Prius arrived rather than a van, but within a few minutes we were being asked "How do you get so many animals in one car?"
We had a great afternoon (as the photographs below show), met some lovely people, we stopped the traffic while Citrine tried their liveried taxi for size, and we helped them raise funds.
The national target for the day was £20,000, to be split between five charities - LandAid, Mary's Meals, Kid's Company, Barnado's and MPS Society. While we were there we heard that they were approaching £29,000, and their Virgin Money Giving page (http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=knightfrankdayofgiving&isTeam=true) currently shows a total of £30,279.59 plus Gift Aid.
