Police Reserves

Conditions of Service: A Reservist in the Royal Papua and New Guinea Constabulary has the same responsibilities as a member of the Regular Constabulary while on duty. He is expected to give only a few hours per month of his spare time, although he is liable to be called on to help on special occasions. A reservist does not sign on for any specific period of service and, after being sworn in, he may resign at any time with the consent o the Commissioner of Police. This consent will not normally be withheld. Uniforms and other Police equipment are provided free and, although service on the Reserve does not attract regular pay or salary, there is provision for t􀁂e payment of such out-of-pocket allowances as may be determined by the Minister for External Territories.
