Force as a Warrant Officer Class 2

• Posted at Rabaul, Wau, Salamaua, Wau, Bulwa

ANGAU

• Joined the Australian Army and was posted to the

Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU) in

1942

• 14th November 1944, received the Bronze Star

• Discharged 29th June 1946



• On 8th February 1936, joined the New Guinea Police Force as a Warrant Officer Class 2

• In 1938, went to Australia to get a pilot's licence, as reported in The Referee sportspaper

• Clearly, Antipodean romance blossomed...for a short time

• Ivan Geoffrey Hoggard was born 23rd September 1940

• 30th June 1946, joined the Royal Papua Constabulary

• 5th September 1946, attached as patrol officer at Manus

to the Department of District Administration and Native Affairs

• Returned to Port Moresby in the early 1950s (jury list 1952)

• Purchased land at Sapphire Creek, north of Port Moresby, in 1955

• Joined the Australasian Petroleum Company in the late 1950s

• Became involved in the adminstration of native labour in PNG

• Died in Port Moresby, 24th January 1963

• Notice of Probate was published twice, in March and May 1963
