S.E.E. the Child at
Happy Schools through mission
T. E. A. C. H. of Rotary Literacy Mission
Help us provide
School Benches, Drinking Water , Sanitation
The Need
Rural kids are deprived of benches, compelled to sit on damp, dusty, hard and rough floors to study.
Our aided and government schools are lagging far behind the unaided ones in infrastructure. Moreover the lack of will by the government to increase the spending for schools, has resulted in children being deprived of Benches in Schools and basic amenities like Water and Sanitation. Specially for girl child and unsafe or no drinking water.
SCHOOL DROP OUT
Children are compelled to sit in squatting position on uneven some times wet and cold floors, same as at their home. Instead, the schools should attract the students by giving them some extras like a dignity of sitting on benches instead of the floor, pure water, clean hygienic toilets. No wonder why so many children dropout.
DIFFICULT TEACHER STUDENT INTERACTION
The teacher is unable to interact properly as well as is also wrong which makes the whole learning process weak.
IMPROPER SITTING POSTURE
As the sitting posture is squatting type, the kids cannot sit for long and as such they get tiered very soon. The child visual distance with the books is also not correct so the kids have to bend down to read or write.
S.E.E. - Our Vision
We aim is to provide 5000 Benches, drinking water and toilets to deprived schools.
We have initiated an ambitious project of providing 5000 school benches through donations from individuals and corporate under CSR. We ensure that the money received in used effectively for this worthy cause.
BENCHES - best of lot
We have developed a special bench of composite materials for longer life span. These are manufactured under dedicated team emphasis on quality and competitive costing. These are ergonomically designed to offer very good sitting posture and comfort. With all these parameters we have achieved at a cost of around Rs 3000 (US$50)/bench.
This Project Launched under Rotary Literacy Mission Of Providing Happy Schools of T.E.A.C.H. program. A committee for 5 years has been constituted (2014-2019) under the chairmanship of Rtn. PDG Avinash Potdar.

THE EVALUATION PROCESS
We have a developed a fool proof system to identify the needy schools from our experience in SCAW procurement and distribution. Even our method has been adopted by SCAW Canada as a Standard Operating Procedure. The steps are follows:
> Identify the needy rural schools of a certain region.
> Our members visit each and every school in teams. > Collect information in writing from authorities. > Screen details and make a list most needy ones > Procure durable benches of best quality & prices. > Handover benches only after signing agreements. > Monitor regularly the recipient schools periodically.
