Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW) – A 100% Charity
Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW) donations provide bedkits to children of any race and/or religion who will benefit the most. No portion of a bedkit donation is spent on administration — 100% reaches a needy child. Each $35 (Rs. 62/USD) donation provides a bedkit that consists of a mat or mattress, pillow, sheet, blanket, mosquito net, clothes outfit, sweater and school supplies. Every child is photographed with the bedkit, showing the donor's name and each photograph is then mailed back to the original donor.Since its founding by Murray and Margaret Dryden in 1970, SCAW has raised over $23 million to provide bedkits for more than 1 Million children in 33 countries.
Since 1988, Rotary club of Belgaum has been relentlessly working with SCAW in distributing slumber kits to poor and needy children. Thousands of children from the remote villages in Belgaum district have received bed kits. This holy union of our manpower and the generous donations from Canadian people has brought smiles to thousands of young faces.
Our Volunteers identify backward and remote areas surrounding Belgaum. They visit the schools and homes of these children to make sure only the needy children are selected. No kind of Government, Political or caste influence is entertained in this process.
We go an extra mile to see that the best quality items are purchased at most competitive prices so that maximum items can be included in the bed kit. Some items are fetched from places as far as 2000 Km. These items are then packed in a kit and distributed in the presence of Canadian Team.
