A range of western mountains on one side and portion of Deccan Plateau on the east. The Arabian sea, the hills, forest and the table land provide a unique example of geographical diversity of district 3170.

The area of district 3170 is rich in resources of 3 states Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka. There is variation in climate with the differences in geographical set up.
