Update: We have discovered that Louiza's father was John H. Robinson who was born in 1812 in Woodstock. (August 2023)
Louiza J. Robinson was the niece of Issac G. Robinson. The first trace of her we found was in the records of the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Johnstown, NY. There she is listed as a member in 1862 & 1864. Later in the book, it is noted that she (a resident of Johnstown) was married in the home of Isaac & Katherine Robinson on January 3, 1872 to Isaac Nash Gledhill of Garratsville, NY (Town of New Lisbon). Although Isaac & Katherine served as witnesses, the exact relationship wasn't determined until my father found the newspaper article which read as follows:
GLEDHILL-ROBINSON- At the residence of the bride's uncle, by Rev. H.T. Heoxt, Mr. ISAAC N. GLEDHILL and MISS LOUIZA I. ROBINSON. The occasion was made brilliant by Perry's Atmospheric Vapor Burners.
Louiza & Isaac Gledhill settled in Garratsville, had a son, James Robert Gledhill, on July 9, 1874, but, unfortunately, the baby died on March 1, 1875. Louiza died twelve days later at the age of 31 on March 13, 1875. In the 1875 Otsego County County Census (Deaths Occurring in the Town of Lisbon), she was listed as having been born in New Hampshire.
With that information, we at least know that Isaac did have a brother, and that brother may have lived in New Hampshire in the 1840's. So if we can't find Daniel Robinson by researching Isaac, then perhaps we may be able to find him by researching Isaac's brother. Of course, we would need to know the identity of Isaac's brother. Well, we don't. Why? We can't really find any other traces of Louiza! But what fun would genealogy be if you found everyone right away? I suppose if I really think about it, it would actually be more fun than I care to admit. Maybe we'd have better luck revitalizing the Atmospheric Vapor Burner industry.
