The Red Dot children's choice book awards

are an initiative of the International School Libraries (ISLN) in Singapore.

All school libraries in Singapore -- and the region --

are welcome to participate.

Voting was held March 9th through 16th.

The results for individual schools collected via the online survey form

have been sent to the librarians of those schools, as school winners

may differ from the city-wide Singapore ones.

See last year's winners on the 2009-2010 Red Dot Awards website

The Red Dot books are divided into four categories, roughly based on age and interest level:

  • Picture Book

    • Junior (where Captain Underpants and Geronimo Stilton are the assumed reading level)

    • Middle (where Inkheart and The Lightning Thief are the assumed reading level)

    • Senior (where Twilight and The Book Thief are the assumed reading level)

Shortlist titles are chosen by a committee of teacher-librarians from recent children's literature (first published in English within the past four years), with the goal of offering a range of books from around the world.

Books are read from September through March. Voting is held in March.

A Readers Cup competition based on a subset of these shortlists is held in early May.
