Good Ideas

You need to make a backup of your data whenever retyping all your changes would be painful.

CDs and portable "jump" drives are easy, cheap, and convenient.

Simply copy the files you've changed onto a "BACKUP" directory on CD or jump drive, and you are protected against catastrophic loss of all your genealogical data.

As a computer professional, I learned that you want to have three separate backup copies of your data, and you need to store one copy in a safe place "off site." I suggest that you mail a copy of your genealogy to me for a secure off site backup.
