Kyrie Alfhild, born Valkyrie Seraphine of the Elves of the Hills, is a young lady who fled her hometown of Eleison a some years back due to being a pariah. In her community, everyone can innately do magic, except her. She is tainted with magic, in that it happens around her totally uncontrollably, but she cannot perform the magic herself. When she was a girl she was reading in her family's cellar during a get together because no one wanted her around. Down there she found a broken longbow, ornately carved. She bought books on bows and on archery from travelling nomads outside her kingdom she met when off exploring. She fixed the bow, teaching herself how to use it and how to make arrows. She would travel out into the woods with her books and her bow and practice hunting. There she learned how to survive on her own, and she eventually carved a secondary shortbow to have some variety in shots. She made friends with an injured elf owl, which she helped get small animals and vermin to eat. Mycrathena became her constant companion on lonely days and nights, even after her wounds healed.
When she came of age and was to get her adult name after a show of her magical prowess, she ran away with a backpack full of her needed belongings, hooking up with the nomads from before. They taught her to ride and all they knew of geography and nature. They expanded her archery knowledge and taught her to use a dagger as well. Here she discovered even cythen couldn't grant her magic of her own. She travelled with them clear to Vertia. With some locals of Vertia she went to Drahn, disguising her heritage as best she could.

In Drahn she was staying at a boarding house with a very kind widowed housemother named Raheen. Raheen made sure she was fed, and let her get away with doing work for board instead of paying. Raheen kept all the belongings of her boarders in locked chests in the cellar for privacy and only she and they had a key.
One day, Kyrie was at the market buying fabric for a dress for Raheen when a carriage stirred up a ton of dust. She began sneezing uncontrollably and sparks kept on flying. She tried to stop them and to stop sneezing but she couldn't. All eyes turned towards her and a local guardsman whisked her off to the temple to see a healer to help her. She changed into robes and her clothes were washed and she also bathed, but she was still sparking, and now glowing a little. They checked all over for cythen and found none. She was returned her clothes and the healer said, "Her magic is evil, innate. She is an elf, as of lore. A dangerous woman if I ever saw one!" At that, the guard took her to the guardhouse to await trial. Many wizards were called in to confirm her elfhood and she was convicted and thrown into prison.
