Learn Parliamentary Procedure

Here are some ideas on how to learn parliamentary procedure.

On your own:

    • Read Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised In Brief (RONR-IB). Prepare to take the NAP membership exam based on RONR-IB.

    • Get Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised and take the online practice test of 300 questions for the NAP membership at www.300questions.org. Previously the NAP membership exam was 100 randomly selected questions from the 300.

With others, locally:

    • Join a local Unit of the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP).

    • Become an officer of the unit.

    • If there is no local unit, contact your state association or NAP for assistance in starting one.

    • If there is no way to join a local unit, consider joining eNAP, a study group that has 6 online meetings per year.
