Jesolo

This picture was taken in Jesolo that is in Veneto in the north-east of Italy. Jesolo is not far from Venice; it is located East of this beautiful city. Jesolo is situated in the northern hemisphere.

Physical landscape. The right side of the picture is covered by an enormous and calm green sea, called the Adriatic Sea. All along the light brown sandy coast, there are some waves. At the bottom right of the picture there is the mouth of the river Sile. Just before the river ends, there are meanders. Throughout the picture there are a lot of green, medium size trees. Near the lighthouse, there is a lot of dark green grass. In the upper background of this panoramic photo, there might be some fields. We can’t see any clouds. Obviously, this is a sea landscape. The climate is a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters mitigated by the sea. We guess it is late morning because the tide is low. This picture was probably taken in spring because there are lots of green trees.

Human landscape. In the centre bottom, I can see a striped grey and white lighthouse. At the end of the river Sile there is a pier. Along the coast I can see piers constructed in the water. On the last meander of the Sile, I see two large fishing nets and there are some moored boats nearby. Jesolo is a town so we are sure there are streets and cars that we can’t see in this picture. In the upper right corner, I can see houses, flats and a lot of other multi-storey buildings that are probably used as summer residences. Here people might wear trousers and sneakers. People might go for walks, a swim, a bike ride or sunbathe.

Interactions between humans and the environment. We can’t see any factories but we think the fishing nets are an example of primary sector. If there were industries, maybe they would be based on seafood because, as we just said, there is the presence of animals in the sea. Humans could have treated this place better by leaving more green areas. We think the main impact on the environment are the buildings, which are presence throughout the picture. We also think that the human activities have created a worse landscape because they have built many buildings. Personally, I think people could plant more trees and plants.

Interesting things to do:

In Jesolo you can go to the lighthouse.

You can h

ave fun while visit during the dry seasons, like summer. There are many different activities at different prices. You can see the lighthouse and magnificent landscape.

You can cycle from Portegrandi to Jesolo. It takes two and a half hours to cycle the 33 kilometres. The path is called “The Place of the Sun”. It is preferable to go in dry seasons. Some stretches are difficult and it is long.
