Secondary Ready (Draft)
Below is a list of knowledge, skills and dispositions that a pupil should have acquired by the end of KS2 in order to ensure that they can enjoy and fully participate in the Key Stage 3 curriculum and beyond.
The Secondary ready pupil-
· Can solve problems by breaking them down into smaller parts;
· Has fluency and flexibility to design, write and debug computer programs, including those which use core programming constructs (sequence, selection, repetition and variables);
· Can use logically reasoning to explain a simple algorithm and take steps to correct one which contains errors;
· Has a sufficiently deep knowledge of core key concepts regarding a range of computer networks, including the internet, in order to explain how they work and what opportunities they offer;
· Can confidently choose and operate a variety of software and hardware to design and produce creative solutions to achieve given goals;
· Can discuss some basic ethical issues surrounding computer use both for individuals & society;
· Begin to become digitally literate by having confidence in using a variety of technology safely and responsibility to search, analyse and evaluate information online as well as collaborating and communicating online to accomplishing goals and present data and information.
