Family Reunion 2017 - Fundraising
The Kaupapa (Purpose)
Over 100 years has past since Taraipine (Tolaga Bay) and her children (Makaraka Cemetery) were buried without any lasting acknowledgement. The general consensus is that our upcoming reunion may be our last opportunity to rectify this situation otherwise it may never be addressed.
Poututara Urupa, Tolaga Bay
Makaraka Cemetery, Gisborne
These memorials will give our family a long overdue tangible presence at
these important family historic sites in which we can pay our respects to
these beloved founding family members of ours.
The reason why we have left the fundraising aspect of this so late is because we were unsure if we would be permitted to install these memorials and the many hurdles that we have had to negotiate.
Many thanks must go to the whanaunga that have helped/are helping me negotiate these hurdles. Shirley Scott (Gisborne), Willie Grey (Tolaga Bay) and Mike Stowers (Auckland).
We feel comfortable enough now to be able to proceed with fundraising in earnest, however with such a short time-frame to do so, this is just one last hurdle that we need to negotiate.

A large part of the fundraising to date is what was left over from Papa Charles memorial fundraising, the names of those who contributed to that memorial are therefore are again included in the acknowledgements lists below.

the account details are:
Bank: ANZ

Account #: 01 0190 0374619 51
The signatories are Mike and Pat Stowers (who both live in Auckland), and myself.
** When making koha, please put your name in as reference so that it will be acknowledged. If you would like to make an anonymous koha, then your reference will be "anon". All other donors will be acknowledged but the amount will not. So whether someone is donating $1 or $100, they will be acknowledged equally. If you would like your koha acknowledged that the reference doesn't allow, please email me with the details.
We recommend that you use internet banking when making koha because your reference details will be as you wish and the transaction incurs no bank charges. If you make koha over the counter, please check your receipt to ensure your reference details are correct.
We try to check the account on a regular basis, however your koha may still take a day or few to register. If after a few days your koha doesn't register here, please contact me.
If internet banking isn't your thing, then you may give koha during the reunion directly to
Mike Stowers or myself - Thanks.
