Third Multiplier Event - Teaching diversity successfully in school
1. Event Theme - "Professional Learning Communities as method of development in the field of education"
Currently in different fields of education Professional Learning Communities are focused on as significant method of development. They are implemented both in schools and in advanced training. However, the way Professional Learning Communities are being run is manifold. Objections, arrangements and performances can be found in a larger variety than its model would allow us to expect.
There is a consistently positive perception of Professional Learning Communities although the empirical prove of its effectiveness is still little. Furthermore, the requirements of their successful and steady implementation are not well known yet. Especially for German speaking countries the need for systematic examination of Professional Learning Communities is obvious.
With presentations and discussions the conference will take on these essential questions and contribute to a scientific foundation of Professional Learning Communities as promising method for development. For that matter the meaning of institutional context, the circumstances of special groups learning together, the inherent understanding of professionalism and the dynamics of interaction in various Professional Learning Communities will be considered and discussed.
2. Event Keynote Speakers
- Prof. Dr. Claus Buhren (Deutsche Sporthochschule Köln),
- Assistant Professor Vicki Vescio, PhD (University of Florida; to be confirmed)
- Dr. Julia Warwas (University of Bamberg).
