Year 1991
In July, I celebrated my 50th birthday. I decided to spend whole week skiing at Mt Buller with my family coming on Friday for official celebrations. On the second day, strong winds came, lifts were shut down. I went to the ski hire to return useless equipment.
- Maybe you would like to take touring skis instead - asked the attendant
- And where I will ski on them?
- EVERYWHERE !!
As appeared later, it was a prophetic statement. I went to the deep woods and returned a changed man. I barely skied downhill afterwards.
Hoppet. At the end of August, I heard the news, that an international ski race has been launched in Australia. Few days later, I learned, that Polish female skier - Dorota Dziadkowiec, took second place in the race. Polish cross-country skiers in Australia? It sounded quite amusing to me. Soon it became even more amusing.
