Capacity Markets

While working for Senergy Econnect Australia, Dr. William Peter authored a successful proposal and subsequently served as the project manager and lead engineer for a review of the of existing and hypothetical renewable generation projects in the capacity market of Western Australia for the Office of Energy of Western Australia. For this project, he undertook and presented statistical analysis of historical and simulated load, solar thermal, solar PV, wind, and landfill gas generation data in order to advise the Office of Energy on potential rule changes regarding Western Australia’s capacity markets. This project required the analysis of renewable energy generation and financial data in order to give recommendations directly to policy makers and utilities. A presentation of results to the Renewable Energy Generation Working Group (comprised of representatives from network operators, regulators, utilities, and energy developers), resulted in a re-assessment of a potential rule change.
