Ubuntu installation
sudo apt-get install ros-fuerte-openni-camera ros-fuerte-openni-launch
I have followed the Quick Start Tutorial without any complication at http://www.ros.org/wiki/openni_launch/Tutorials/QuickStart
I have not got idea that by connecting the kinect sensor on a USB 3.0 was to cause some issues. Fortunately, I connect the kinect onto a normal USB, and the tutorial works like a charm.
