While in New Zealand, my clinical direction focused on nursing within forensic inpatient services.
My specialist focus remains with Learning/ Intellectual disabilities, supporting individuals with Intellectual disabilities and Mental Health support needs to reach their full potential.
During my years as a registered nurse, I have developed a specialist interest in the health needs of people with a learning disability, in particular those individuals who have Profound Intellectual and/or Multiple Disabilities (PIMD/ PMLD). This includes developing specific nursing skills in continence care, eating and drinking difficulties, postural care and tube feeding.
Over the years I have lead and been part of many teams developing clinical guidance documentation examples are located on the Multiple Disability Resource Team Page.
