From observation of how the word is used within society seems to imply that a person with a Learning Disability is "thick", "stupid", "slow" or "retarded", from my observation this is not the case. People who have Autism and a LD are far from all those ignorant words. They are amazing people who deserve respect, dignity and acceptance.
The implication is that someone with Autism and a LD has a "low IQ" . I beg to differ on so many levels, I myself have Autism and a Learning Disability that was prevalent during my early years and still continues. I have spoken to teachers on this subject and they firmly disagree that someone with Autism and an LD has a "low IQ". They're people who have impairments in learning not intellect.
