"The Councillors were extremely impressed with how articulate Paul and another person with an ASD were not because they had autism, just the confidence and delivery and comments that they made and speaking in front of the committee at that age. The Chairman commented that Paul was a directorate officer! I have never see them so engaged or interested in a policy area and I have been clerking the committee for 8 years"

(Member of the Oxfordshire County Council 2010)

"Thanks once again for your excellent talk last week. The deputy manager and charge nurse were extremely impressed with your talk, particularly your ability to humanise the subject and enable support workers and nurse to understand better the perspective of our in-patients with autism/ASD"

"Paul Isaacs delivered a brilliant presentation about his experiences of misdiagnoses, bullying, education and a 'Lecture Level' description of his 'Fruit salad' (Donna Williams expression) of in autism which explained brilliantly all the components he experiences of the spectrum and 'triad of impairment.' In the two years I have been doing my Autism MA, I am sorry if I offend anyone who lectured, but this was the best comprehensive 'broken down in to small pieces' for OUR UNDERSTANDING, descriptions and explanations of the spectrum and his experiences of it, I have heard and I am sorry my fellow students were not there today to hear him. I shall be recommending him to my Autism MA Tutor who organises the lectures....ü"

(Parent At NAS Bristol Event 2011)

"Just a line to say how much Tamsin and I enjoyed the evening with Paul Isaacs yesterday.  Tamsin is our Deputy Team Leader for Foundation Studies and a champion for the work we are trying to do in College to better support students with ASD.  Paul had some interesting experiences to recount which I’m sure we will find useful here and it is always encouraging to see a young person achieving so much.  I found Paul’s presentation both engaging and informative."

I learnt so much and thought Paul was quite remarkable as a person and a speaker. I gained a much deeper understanding of Autism and I'm sure the rest of the audience did too."

"Thank you, keep up the great work and all the very best to you all."

(Charlotte Nawrot Attendee at "Living Through The Haze" NAS Gloucestershire 2013)

"We went to listen to Paul Isaacs last night, he is an Autistic Speaker, he came to one of the local schools near us, well I had been looking forward to it, just so that I could get a teeny bit of insight into our Thomas' world, But this guy is amazing, If anyone has heard of him or not and he is giving a talk near you I urge you all to go, he spoke solid for 2 hours but it flew by, and was so informative, he is such a lovely genuine person with a really good sense of humour, couldn't recommend it enough."

"He has also written 3 books, which are on Amazon, I just found it amazing that he was 7 when he gained functional speech and now at 28 he is giving talks to parents and professionals!!"

"Was a really good evening! :-)"

"He covered from birth right up to present, he spoke about the challenges of work, because his first job was in a supermarket (!) the struggles of bullying from teachers and peers, I found the sensory side really really interesting, he did say exact term but I can't remember but his vision is affected, he has to wear dark glasses as everything is pixelated, so that lead to a discussion about pecs and how they didn't work, as he couldn't see, how he used his touch to explore the world around him, He was just lovely! I would go again and listen to it all over again,."

"As I mentioned earlier I found the sensory part really interesting, although Thomas' sensory issued have reduced over time, and change of school it explained a lot for when he was younger, like he was saying he loves water (which happens to be thomas' fave too) he said he loved water because it was his friend, because wherever he went it was always there, he said he went on a trip to the zoo, but spent the time asking for "Loo Loo" because he wanted to watch the water being flushed etc."

"There was loads, it just explained an awful lot, of the past and also some of the behaviours we see now, quite often if Thomas gets told off, he will often say shortly after that he has a tummy ache an Paul was able to say that it’s his way of expressing he is sorry, and at times when Thomas does say sorry  for things and it just sounds like words that actually he probably does mean it , it’s just he cannot express it in his voice!"

(Helen Osborne Attendee at the Autism Oxford Phoebe Caldwell Event 2014)

"I just wanted to send you a quick email to say how much I enjoyed your presentation yesterday Paul. It was inspiring to hear you discuss useful strategies to overcome sensory issues. As the mother of a 7 year old non verbal boy, I feel you gave me a real, valuable insight. Thank you so much!"

(Siobhan Hogg - NAS Branch Support Officer Scotland, NAS Autism & Participation Event 2014)

I attended Paul’s talk at the “Autism and Participation” conference.  Pauls talk explained, in an entertaining and powerful way, his extraordinary journey, from someone diagnosed as both deaf and blind (neither of which is true), to eventually getting a diagnosis of autism aged 24.

I found Paul’s explanation of his sensory needs and differences absolutely fascinating, and was particularly interested n the intensely personalised strategies Paul has developed over the years to help him to manage environments and situations which are challenging.  These include wearing wristbands to help him understand where his arms end, sensory equipment to prepare for meetings, as well as more traditional tools such as irlen lenses.  For me this exemplified how creative and individual the solutions to particular difficulties are likely to be.  This is a skill we need to develop in staff supporting those people on the spectrum who aren't able to express their needs in the way Paul can.

Paul's ability to continue his presentation over the noise of an old, whirring projector was admirable, but eventually the challenge became too much, and some brave soul had to stand on a chair to switch it off.  This meant that though the noise had abated, Paul had to continue without his PowerPoint slides, which Paul managed admirably!

Overall, I found Paul an engaging speaker who was able to adapt his presentation to the needs of the audience, and not only deliver a fascinating talk, but also really engage with the audience through his question and answer session.

(Carol Povey - NAS Director of the Centre for Autism, NAS Autism & Participation Event 2014)

Always a pleasure to hear and see someone deliver a talk when it’s from experience & with passion.

(Further Audience Comments From Autism Oxford Phoebe Caldwell Event 2014)

Paul Isaacs is the most inspiration speaker I have ever listened to. I have been working with children and adults with learning difficulties for 25 years, and I have learnt more by attending 3 of Paul's talks than I have in all of the rest of my career. I am hoping to get involved with autism Oxford in the future as education is what is needed to help with peoples awareness and understanding, Paul is a wonderful ambassador. His books give such foresight into autism, and after last nights talk at Ickford school I have ordered 2 books he recommended to try and further my understanding. Thank you Paul Isaacs and autism Oxford, I look forward to whenever the next talk is.

(Alison Biddle - Attendee at Ickford School Event 2014)

“I have had the pleasure of seeing Paul Isaacs speak on two occasions, and as a Clinical Psychologist  who has specialised in autism for the past 20 odd years, I can say that I have learned an enormous amount from him each time. Paul gives a unique perspective on autism, as a person with classic autism who has moved from being nonverbal to being extremely eloquent, Paul astonishes with his ability to succinctly describe both the joys  and the trials of having autism. He is also “laugh out loud” funny! Health and educational professionals, parents and family members as well as people on the autism spectrum will benefit from hearing"  Dr Michelle Garnett - Hearts & Minds, Australia

Dear Paul

"Thanks for the message and I certainly enjoyed your presentation, which was not only informative but it was also extremely eloquent and entertaining.  One of your talents is the ability to use gestures to augment your speech and thoughts and, quite clearly, the audience were entranced by your presentation.  It was a sheer delight to watch and listen to your presentation and look forward to the opportunity of doing the same at some stage in the future."

"Thank you so much for your comments on the presentation of Michelle and I.  I was so pleased to note that you commend both of us for us empathy and a positive, practical presentation.  We both like to use humour and I note that when an audience laughs they are more likely to remember the point." Prof Tony Attwood

(Asperger's & Autism - 2 Day Conference Comments 2014)

(Roxanne - Living Through The Haze Event - January 2016)

"I feel privileged to have seen Paul present on two separate occasions, and have found his talks extremely informative, useful and moving. It is highly unusual to be able to hear someone talk in this way about what it is like to have been born with a brain injury and have a diagnosis of autism; Paul speaks intelligently and candidly about his personal experience and yet manages to make his audience feel comfortable whilst delivering complex information in very easy to understand terms. I strongly recommend that anyone interested in learning more about autism – whether on a personal or professional basis – contacts Paul and goes to see him speak."

(Ellie Ruddock, Music Therapist - Living Through Haze Event & Acorns Event)

Tutor, Cambian Potterspury Lodge School

"Absolutely brilliant INSET.  I learned so much about autism and the way it feels to have autism.  It really gave me an insight into some of the issues our students face and has helped me to think of ways to help some of our students more.  Utterly invaluable…Thanks a million."

Teacher, Cambian Potterspury Lodge School

"I thought Paul was an entertaining and inspiring speaker. To have him come back to give more detailed breakdown of the many areas covered would be great."

Tutor, Cambian Potterspury Lodge School

"As someone who is relatively new to working with students with ASD, I found it a fascinating insight. A great mix of theory and personal thoughts, showing how everyday life can be different. I agree wholeheartedly with the view the Autism is not a label, and that everyone should be treated as an individual."

Teacher, Cambian Potterspury Lodge School

"Dear Paul

I believe that the training we received on Thursday was the best ASD training that I have ever had in 12 years of working with boys on the spectrum.

Your honest and humorous approach to how ASD has affected your life provided us with an insight that we could never get from reading books by ASD 'experts'.

As a teacher I have already adapted my planning to take into account some of the things in your training."

Teacher, Cambian Potterspury Lodge School

"The training that was delivered by Paul was by far one of the best training sessions I have had whilst working at the school. Having an insight into what its like living with autism was fascinating and Paul delivered it with great humour. The way the information was put across was easy to take in. A fantastic speaker and would defiantly be keen on hearing more from Paul"

(LSA, Cambian Potterspury Lodge School)

"I thought that Paul's presentation was the best INSET training we have received for a long time."

"I enjoyed his humour, clarity and realistic presentation. His life and the moments in his life that he shared with us - thanks- brought the autistic world into reality and helped me to relate to our pupils much better than a theoretical presentation."

"I am going to purchase his books and feel sure that they will be as informative as his talk."

Thank you Paul and Well Done"

"It was a fantastic presentation by Paul and I think he helped with insights into how he feels in situations and also how his parents (specially his Mum) brought him up and while it was very hard for him, she prepared him for the world outside. It was also great to see him after some time and I'm really proud of how well he is doing and turning his autism into a strength - well done Paul really proud of you."

"A very open and honest talk about a inspirational and exceptional life. Enjoyed the humour, and it never took away from the overall learning experience."

"I thought Paul was amazing an inspiration to all."

"The best training i have had in a long time."

"I found Paul's training session to be enjoyable and very informative.  It has really enabled me to better understand that having autism is not an "out of the box" package but a very "bespoke" diagnosis.  Paul clearly explained that autism is made up of many different components and so every individual with this diagnosis experiences it in a unique way.  Thank you so much Paul."

(Cambian Potterspury Lodge School)

"Hi Paul. Yes it was a wonderful evening. I saw things from a different perspective tonight. You have given me food for thought! Thank you"

"I feel inspired and empowered Paul - thank you"

Clare Samaways - GRASPS Co-Founder

"Thank you Paul - you knowledge is just amazing lots to think about"

Shoshana Willetts - GRASPS Co-founder

"Dear Paul,

Thank you very much for, once again, giving up your time to come and speak at the conference yesterday, it was lovely to see you again.  We really do appreciate all the hard work and energy you put into preparing and giving your presentation.

The conference seems to have been extremely well received and we have had some excellent feedback from the delegates. Nearly all of the attendees said that they took away useful ideas from the conference and that they would recommend it to a colleague.  We believe that the event was a huge success - but we could not have done it without you, so thank you"

(Kate Laird, Head of Conferences, Events & Information Resources | The National Autistic Society)

“It was an absolute pleasure to hear Paul speak again and have him come to our branch (NAS Southwark) AGM. His talk is utterly enlightening, revealing, generous and along with those vital ingredients, he is also really funny and entertaining, busting myths about autism left right and centre. He gives so much of himself and tells the audience what autism actually is!  I particularly like that he proves how problematic it is to label an individual on the autism spectrum as either high or low functioning. On top of all of this, he is a remarkably inexpensive speaker. Thank you so much Paul!”

(Rosie Barnes, Treasurer, Southwark NAS Branch)

"After meeting Paul at the NAS conference in 2016, we invited him to come and see our family later the same year. My three children, Rose, Daisy and Lenny are all on the autistic spectrum and have many associated conditions. Since the children's diagnoses there hasn't been much by way of further assessment, barring a few physio or OT appointments.

Paul was able to observe my younger two children at home, in their respite placements, and while they were out and about enjoying favourite activities. He expertly pinpointed some visual perception issues that both Daisy and Lenny have, and gave advice regarding the best care and stimulation.

We would now consider Paul to be a family friend, we very much valued his input and would highly recommend his service for anyone whose child or loved one is on the autistic spectrum."

(Sharon King , Mother, Author, Public Speaker & Creative Writer, Wakefield, United Kingdom)

"I have had a huge amount of positive feedback about your presentation; I think all the staff (me included) learned something new and enjoyed the insight you provided. We'd be very happy to work with you again in the future."

(Simon Eccles Headteacher Spa School)

"It was an absolute pleasure to meet you and your dad and show you round our school. Your talk was informative and very thought provoking and has given us lots to think about when we are working with our children who have been diagnosed as on the autism spectrum.

You are a real inspiration. Thank you for your time this evening. I will definitely recommend you to colleagues in other schools and settings!

All the best, to you and your Mum and Dad.

Best wishes."

(Miss Jo Pikulski Acting Co-Headteacher The Disraeli School and Children's Centre)

"Thank you for your lovely feedback, it is much appreciated. I would also like to say a big thank you for coming and speaking.  I had so many good comments from people about how inspirational you are.It was a pleasure meeting you and your dad.

Best wishes and I hope to see you again."

Jenny Hawkes

"The talk that you gave at our Proact Network meeting was very Informative and gave a good understanding of your early life until now. Thank you Paul for sharing with us."

Tracy Styles

"Paul is an enthusiastic, personable speaker who engages the audience with a unique mix of science and humanity. His presentation on “Autisms” and the fruit salad analogy are a much needed new stereotype challenging perspective that deserves to be shared widely."

Joe White

(The Beacon School - Autism As A "Fruit Salad" Training - July 2017)

"Hi Michelle, Please tell Paul that I was totally engrossed in the conference and considering that I have been in the field for so long, he gave me fresh insight into a number of issues regarding both autism and Asperger’s syndrome and I look forward to including his opinions and views in the training content for both internal and external staff. In addition , I thoroughly enjoyed our meal together. Paul was an engaging and fascinating dinner companion and I look forward to meeting him again. Thanks Yvonne"

"Hi Michelle,

I really enjoyed the conference I found Paul very interesting to listen to and certainly learnt a lot from him, he was very clear in what he was saying and explained things well. I particularly liked the real life examples he gave. He kept me engaged throughout. Many Thanks Hema"

"Hi Michelle,

The conference was brilliant:

Paul Isaacs gave a fascinating insight into the autism spectrum. He was interesting and made it fun, too. I felt very engaged with everything he spoke about and I also feel inspired! Thank you again for organising this lovely and motivational event."

Yvonne S

"Hi Michelle,

I really enjoyed the conference with Paul Isaacs. I found the subject very interesting and this has certainly widened my knowledge around this subject.

Paul was very interesting and engaging, he made it easy to understand and he related certain behaviours to specific situations- which enabled me to understand some of the behaviours I have experienced with our own service users at AT.

I enjoyed his down to earth manner, found him very knowledgeable and easy to listen to.

I am glad I had the opportunity to attend this conference and would highly recommend others to see him."

(Autism Together - Autism & Borderline Personality Disorder Conference - November 2017)

"Hi Paul, I was at your talk yesterday in Enfield and I wanted to say a massive thank you. What you said about viewing autism as a fruit salad and the impact that smaller, not necessarily autistic components can have on an individual's life was hugely inspirational and has encouraged me to look beyond my currently existing tool set to find new and creative ways of helping people with autism."

Rich Chadwick Behaviour Consultant

"Paul's talk is a first person's account on how life can be when you’re on the autistic spectrum. It focuses on the underlying co-morbidities in ASC that can significantly impact on a person's life, picking up from Donna Williams' Fruit Salad Model. He has an incredible knowledge of the condition and goes deep into the "guts of autism", putting it all in perspective with new and person centre approaches".

“A very informative and interesting session. Paul came across as a very knowledgeable person and a free thinker. He managed to keep me engaged throughout his session. I began to rethink the way I look at Autism. In the future, I would like to know more about how Paul have overcome his difficulties and became such an inspirational being”.

"The speech was very informative and entertaining. Paul is a good speaker. He jokes and makes people interested in his very personal stories. Paul is also very knowledgeable. I like to way he looks at Autism. He helped me to put the puzzles together and look at Autism from a different angle. I also love the fact that he worked closely with Donna Williams, who is my hero and inspirer. Well Done Paul!!"

‘’Paul was excellent, I enjoyed his presentation. Paul was able to deliver relevant information about Autism and all the in betweens (fruits) and how it affects him and his life –the fruit salad. He was able to discuss relevant topics with personal life experiences. Paul gave us insight into the importance of accepting the diagnosis as it is not only for the people directly involved but also for the community. Furthermore, he is an advocate to have a more robust diagnosis that not only looks into autism but also other condition that may co-exist with autism.

Paul was very lively and refreshing with an interesting point of view about life, the overall experience was enjoyable and worth it!’’

(Marcus & Marcus Ltd - Autism as a "Fruit Salad" - November 2017)

"The speaker was excellent."

"Speaker gave me a broader knowledge of the fruit salad of Autism and the impact on an individual."

 "Very inspirational speaker."

"Paul's personalised view enabled me to relate to the learners that I support."

"Paul's unique perspective has given me a greater knowledge into ASD & AS and various syndromes. The experiences he shared helped it easier to understand and were good examples."

"Fantastic presentation and everyone commented what a wonderful and inspirational person Paul is."

(St Elizabeth's Centre - Autism as Fruit Salad - January  2018)

"Paul's insight into the challenges faced by students with a diagnosis and his way of relaying the way these challenges mask other conditions gave the best detailed definition of The Autism Spectrum and Asperger syndrome I have heard.  A brilliant interesting thought provoking and inspiring talk, leaving with a feeling of wanting to know more of how each individual child is affected and copes with their unique set of challenges."

"His training was absolutely amazing. I could have listened to him for hours. It really opened my mind and made me see things I didn’t before. Very very good."

"Best training I’ve ever had , I could of listened to him all day . I have worked with ASD pupils  for nearly 30 years and sat in many training sessions and I came out feeling like I had learnt something and I wanted to know more."

"His delivery was interesting and fun and his knowledge was fascinating.  He definitely got me thinking and I wish he would come back !"

(Five Acre Wood School - Autism As A "Fruit Salad" - March 2018)

'An inspirational talk by Paul Isaacs gave everyone insight into the presentation of Autism, personality and sensory issues.

"His candid reflections of his own experiences coupled with an intellectual presentation meant that his audience could better understand how to support the people they live with or work with. we were proud to host and will be inviting Paul again.'

"I wanted to email you to say how much we enjoyed the talk at Greenside yesterday evening. The views and experiences you so articulately shared were really inspirational. I think that there was so much that resonated with us because we share a similar outlook especially within those areas of recognising the individual and specific areas of the Autism Syndrome, and then the other areas of development and behaviours.

We strive not to make any assumptions when working with our clients, and I feel confident in saying that we understand on a meaningful level, that one thing/trait does not naturally mean the same for another individual... or even the same on a different day! I believe our children are brilliant teachers in helping us living right in the present moment!"

(Greenside School - Autism As A "Fruit Salad" - April 2018)

'All excellent, a wonderful delivery and so interesting'

'Very informative, clear, concise and relevant. Its a pity you can't/don't visit Medway School who would really benefit from Paul's presentation.'

'Really insightful and interesting. I could connect with everything you talked about to so many students I work with. A bit of one and a bit of the other. Very interesting thank you,'

'Interesting listening to Paul talk. He spoke about things I have not heard of before and made me look at autism in a different way. Always good to listen who are on the spectrum themselves.'

'Absolutely amazing and informative talk, learnt so much.'

'Fabulous young man! He explained things very well - I could have listened him all evening. I felt that he on the same wavelength as myself - made me feel positive. I have learnt a lot this evening - Thank you!'

'Really interesting - He should sell a whole day conference.'

'Very interesting and has opened my eyes to behaviours and reasons behind them. There is a life with autism and ways to cope.'

'This was an excellent event. I've learned more in the 2 hours than I have in the last year. Will definitely recommend this to my friends of autistic children.'

'Amazing! Please come again. Next time I'll bring the whole family. Well worth going to secondary schools as well to explain to others what I have learnt tonight. Paul is an inspiration!'

(Helen Allison School - "Autism and Daily Living Skills" - May 2018)

'Hi Paul, I have been to a number of your events. The way you remove the stigma, add clarity, and communicate the autistic condition is amazing. As a parent of a child with autism the sessions are so beneficial and I thought I knew alot! It is essential that employers, police federations, schools and other public bodies have a better understanding of these conditions, especially how best to support people who are living with them. Your sessions are the perfect way to provide understanding and give guidance to all.'

(Mark Fosh - Parent - August 2018)

'Hi Paul,

I followed you on Twitter yesterday as I wanted to send you a message. It wouldn’t let me so I just googled and found your email address. I hope you don’t mind me contacting you!

I have a 4 year old autistic son. One of his teachers talked to me about Exposure Anxiety and that she could see it in our son, so I started to do some research and came across your blog. I love your writing! Your blog posts about your explanation of Exposure Anxiety really helped me to understand them a lot more, and it fits them so much. I also loved your posts about what your childhood experiences were like.

I just wanted to say thank you, as you have helped me to understand my little boy more than anyone has! I hope to read more from you.

Many thanks,

Sophie'

I can see more clearly the similarities between autism and EA, how they interlink and how one can be mistaken for the other. I think I shall use this to work with clients in a broader way to understand that how they present maybe just the surface.

What a great evening. The speaker was so enlightening and gave me so much insight into my son's multiple issues.

Very informative and great to hear delivered from from an autistic person's point of view/experiences.

Very informative

Really enjoyed this evenings talk. Paul was fantastic, he had so much knowledge. I would definitely come and see him again. Tim was a great host as well.

Wow. Amazing, blow away best explanation ever. Thank you so very much.

Absolutely fascinating. really well explained, super speaker fond the talk really valuable. Thank you

Really interesting and have learned a lot. Thank you

Paul Isaacs was inspiring and I loved every second of his talk. It was so informative and lovely to witness the first hand experience he brings knowledge to his narrative. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant.

Very informative and helpful, I took lots of notes that will hopefully help me with my child. Paul explained things very well, with a great understanding of the subject matter. Made me understand a lot about my child's anxiety and how he suffers and copes with his anxiety.

Very well in depth about EA, very knowledgeable, very confident about the information. Has helped positively

Excellent speaker. Has explained a lot about it. (EA) Recognised a lot in my child and myself! Helped to have a plan forward may help with my child.

Very knowledgeable. Mad me think how I can do things differently

Very interesting talk thank you. The speaker Paul was personable, knowledgeable and spoke well. I was warned it might be a bit how brow or filled with jargon, but was easy to understand.

A great insight into conditions and a better understanding.

A greater understanding of how my child experiences things. Acknowledgement that my child is doing ok and some scenarios are normal and acceptable.

Very beneficial talk.

Paul was very helpful and the talk very informative.

Great talk and insight into the ASD World! Paul should write a book!

Very informative talk. Well presented.

Excellent talk on a subject I knew little about but with lots of excellent information, signposting and strategies. What an amazing and well rounded young man. Well done Paul one of the best talks I have been too.

Very interesting, honest and clear. Helpful and useful, Thank you.

Paul was so easy to listen too. Made such a difference to speak to someone who has been through it and survived. Networking is really useful! Speaking to other parents is also very helpful. Shows you are not on your own! Appreciate the honesty.

Paul is an amazing talker, a really engaging talker, who brings the audience into the talk. So much interesting information. I would love to have a copy of presentation if possible. Thank you for a very thought provoking and emotional evening.

Speaker very good, a lot of information to take in. He gave good examples to explain his points.

Paul Isaacs is an excellent speaker. Very informative.

Very informative. Paul was very clear and good a talking in a way that can be understood. Really enjoyed hearing Paul talk.

Very interesting, informative and eye opening. I would love Paul to give a talk at my son's school.

Informative with light bulb moments.

(Helen Allison School - "Exposure Anxiety" - March 2019)

I thought Paul’s session was great. It was really informative, natural, well-delivered and incredibly informative. His knowledge of actual understood theories of Autism was really thorough. His descriptions of his personal experiences were a little humbling, but were then really informative and helpful. His sharing of Donna Williams’ theories and his explanation helped broaden my understanding. He was unflappable in a very positive and personable way, in that he had thought through most possible angles and possible questions and had really good perspectives and views on the issues we discussed with him. He genuinely has a passion for sharing and informing. At the same time, hearing him and Ros Blackburn feeding back off each other and adding to each other’s viewpoints was helpful too. An excellent session.

Many thanks, Graham

Thank you so much for your presentation last Friday 7th June.

They were all excellent and useful in their own way. However, the most outstanding presentation for me was the first one by Paul Isaacs because he gave such a clear impression of his own experiences and really enhanced my understanding of how autistic children might see the world

Paul Isaacs - as an NT I find information from an autistic adult absolutely invaluable in getting a better understanding of my child's condition, his presentation was very informative and accessible

Paul Isaacs - because I knew very little about visual perception difficulties

Paul Isaacs gave a very informed presentation and gave me a far greater understanding of the challenges of autism. This was a rare and articulate insight . Sarah Jane Critchley's talk was full of suggested resources

Paul Isaacs. A fantastic engaging speaker and could relate to the experiences he spoke about with the young people I work with.

Paul Isaacs, because being Autistic himself is able to speak from the heart and his experience

Paul Isaacs was amazing. I could have listened to him all day. It was just great to see the world through his eyes

Paul Isaacs- excellent insight in sensory needs and challenges

Paul Isaacs was inspirational. To overcome the struggles he faced, to be able to stand up in a huge room of people and still be erudite, engaging and informative was quite something.

I'm sorry can't choose one. Cleverly done that each speaker you've selected brought their own useful insight as well shared their professional views as well so generous making information accessible. Paul for me personally beat all he odds that nothing is impossible if you have a SEN/ Autistic etc child. Wish all professionals/specialists as well school staff believed in our children as much he is a living proof against all odds and you The organizers and speakers. Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you for such an inspirational talk at Autism Learns, Autism Birmingham would like to invite you to share your journey at our groups.

Thanks again, we gained so much from listening to your journey.

(Autism Learns - Understanding & Managing Distressed Behaviour - London - November 2019)

We have recently been fortunate enough have had Paul visit us at home for a consultation with our son, (who is an autistic man with PDA and other diagnoses).

Our son has been struggling with many things recently which is hard for us to watch and understand.

Paul is a very approachable, personable and gentle young man who has a unique understanding of the way the mind works. He was able to understand things that most of us struggle to see let alone make sense of.

His understanding and insight is very valuable and I would highly recommend him

(Karen Roisin - Parent-February 2020)

Oh my word, thank you for inviting me to Paul Isaacs talks, I’m humbled to be in his presence and equally so emotional to hear him talk. Thank you xx

(Anna Kennedy Workshop - Autism & System of Sensing 2020)

I attended a Zoom presentation delivered by Paul Issacs for work. I really enjoyed the session, Paul provided lots of information and ideas for further reading. The session gave me some much to think about as a parent and a professional.

Zoey Jayne

I really enjoyed the training yesterday.  I thought it was really useful receiving training from someone with a lived experience and that it covered areas often overlooked – such as prosopagnosia, bullying and sensory urges.  I thought the session was delivered well, but would have benefitted from some breaks in between deliver to address any questions or queries in relation to what had just been covered.

Overall, it was a really worthwhile session giving an insight from someone who has lived with autism and their views, ideally aimed at people who have some understanding of the condition already that encourages you to reflect on what you think you know/understand and then broaden your thoughts and challenge yourself on some of your views.

Thank you very much – really enjoyed it (second time I’ve seen you!).

Andy Sampson

I really enjoyed the session and thank Paul for sharing his personal experiences with us. It was such amazing insight for me as sister to a person with autism to hear how Paul feels and his reasoning. I would love to hear him speak again.

I thought it was really interesting. Paul was a lovely, eloquent speaker and very informative! Learned things I never would have known before. Would love to have another session to find out more

I think it was interesting to hear Paul's personal story, but I felt there was no opportunity for participation. It must have taken a lot of courage for Paul to  share his experiences, I really admire his open-ness and he had really interesting views on a lot of relevant issues

I really enjoyed how he gave examples and was very honest about his whole life and spoke about the different stages. It helped me to understand more and relate by him using the timeline and describing each stage.

I really enjoyed his presentation, he’s very inspiring !!!

I though he was really interesting and gave so much information - i think because it was so fast it would be good to have some of his slides just to look up some of the conditions - I also like the resources he suggested

I found the session really interesting.

It was really good to hear about his lived experience, rather than from a professional.

There was  a lot to take in, it would be good to learn more about the different areas in more detail, section by section - a whole course!

I think you might already have an idea about my reaction to today’s session with Paul. From the first few minutes he start, I felt I learnt so much from him. He is so knowledgeable, easy to understand and very eloquent. I also liked the slides he used and if at all possible, can I have a copy. I was taking notes and plan to get the book he told us about, fruit salad.

I think it might be good to ask some of the social workers and solicitors me and Lynne work with to also see him. As I find most of the parents we work with who have their own traits of autism but are treated the same. It’s my view it’s due to a lack of understanding and professional views on autism. Which Can put our parents at a disadvantage.

Food for thought but all in all one of the best sessions I have been involved in.

Regards

Michelle Ryan

I thought it was informative, but found it difficult to absorb so much information without any interaction or discussion, which I completely understand is almost impossible virtually.  Maybe it would have been easier if we had received handouts of the PowerPoint?  Overall, though, it was an interesting session.

I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially when he was talking about his time at school and about his adult life. I really enjoyed listening to his experiences and how he has navigated through life. I thought he presented it really well and overall was just fantastic.

Unfortunately though I had leave dead on 12pm as I had a CIN meeting booked in, so I'm absolutely gutted I missed the end. However, I would definitely would like him to come back again on our meetings and discuss other topics. It may even be good to have him on them PSS Thursday morning meeting for parents to attend or maybe Let's Connect.

Very good Chris, in fact I found it fascinatingly interesting and very thought provoking. Eileen

It was very interesting and there were some parts of it which I did not know beforehand such as the effects that isolation has on the brain and also that there are many more traits of personality that can be connected. I thought he was really knowledgeable and it was great to hear his personal journey.

On the whole I found it very informative and complimented by belief in people are different in many different ways and people with the label of autism have more traits that lead to that diagnosis.

I felt he spoke very well and clearly and you could sense his passion for the subject and the subject matter was engaging.

(Embrace Wigan & Leigh - "Autism as a Fruit Salad" - July 2020)

I’ve found all your training absolutely excellent, very well presented,  informative and honest and a great insight into the subjects you have delivered so far.

(North Training - "Autism Mental Health, Sensory Considerations & Self Harm" - December 2020 - Feb 2021)

That was absolutely brilliant and uplifting. It gives me so much hope for the future.

Sorry I had to leave early but that was absolutely brilliant and uplifting. It gives me so much hope for X future . Please thank Paul .

(Bromley Mencap - "Autism & Sensory Needs" - Jan 2021)

Great Session Paul. I have learnt a lot

Thank you Paul, very helpful and insightful.

I wish I was as articulate as Paul.. amazing!

Wonderful talk, absolutely fascinating.

Thank you Paul, you have a great amount of knowledge, I have really enjoyed listening to you.

thank you for reassuring us mothers about this Paul, no one else has taken the time to say its not my fault about my son and its made me feel more positive about this :)

Paul you are amazing

Thank you Paul for such an insight

I have really enjoyed your presentation. Really enlightening, thank you very much.

Thanks, Paul. Always learn something new from your talks.

Wonderful and inspiring!

(Autism Learns- "Autism Sensory Integration & Perception Workshops - May 2021)

I found listening to Paul Isaacs’ Presentation incredibly moving and powerful. He was the most articulate and intelligent speaker that I have heard for over five years. His insight enabled myself to capture a realistic glimpse into the mind of people diagnosed with autism.

There was a lot of information to absorb and I would have liked to unpick the individual slides a little more. Perhaps Paul could allow additional time for further discussion with the audience between clusters of slides? (I’m trying to be articulate!)

I would greatly appreciate listening to another session based on just one aspect of the Fruit Salad such as OCD. I would also have found more specifics of Paul’s experiences etc how did he manage as a child – what resources did he find helpful? Visual timetables? Etc.

Finally, it would be amazing for our young people to meet such a successful and professional adult who may have some similar experiences to what they may have experienced. Paul’s insights made a significant impact on my own ability to “unpick” possible reasons for behaviour with a young pupil in my class the following day. When I gave enough time to talk this through with the young person I found that he was incredibly accurate and enabled me to approach and look at situations in school differently – thank you

(The Caldecott School - Autism & Mental Health Conditions Workshop - May 2021)

Dear Tina, Please can you pass on my thanks to Paul for his very interesting presentation on Exposure Anxiety. The presentation was very informative, especially the part on keeping things low key, concentrating

on the activity rather than the person. Very useful top tips. The anecdote about the bowl of satsumas/mandarins was very good at getting the message across. Looking forward to the next ‘talk’. Best wishes, Susan Jones

(NAS Gloucester - Autism & Mental Exposure Anxiety Workshop - September 2021)

Hi Paul

I found your talk very informative, It helped me make sense of why I am affected by being around certain people and in certain environments.

(Red2Green - Autism & Emotional Regulation Workshop - October 2021)

Your talk today in the Autism show was so fascinating, thank you for sharing! I was at the show with my son who has a diagnosis of ASD and ADHD and I’m always keen to learn as much as I can to help him reach his potential and live a happy life. (I always find that learning from people who actually have autism rather than “professionals” is far more accurate). He could relate so much to you and stood up to clap for you at the end of your talk.

(Hayley Journeaux - Autistic Minds Conference - September 2022)

“Paul’s session helped demystify autism and signposted all the different factors we should consider in our work with young people.  Paul also brought a personal insight into different experiences and conditions which made the training very accessible. It was a fascinating session - thank you Paul!”

(Amenah Enayat - The Story Museum - Autism As A Fruit Salad Presentation - November 2022)

Hi Paul

Thank you for your presentation at our annual team day which was the highlight of the day for many of us. We support people with autism on a daily basis and have had various training opportunities but there is no better training than the insight of a person with an autism diagnosis. The presentation was so interesting, and within the content there were some great ideas and perspectives that I hadn’t thought about before. The team were really appreciative of the knowledge that you shared and each one of us came away with new things to think about when we support people with an autism diagnosis.

Thank you Paul, you do such an important job.

(Jenny Compton - Associative Directer For Positive Behaviour Support -  The Priory Autism Training - December 2022)

Hi Paul

I found your talk to be very interesting and highly informative. I do feel that you have helped me to look differently at particular aspects of behaviours that can be of concern.

This insight coming from somebody who has ‘lived experience’ will be influential in terms of supporting staff to understand/empathise with why the people that we support may do particular things.

This is invaluable information which will inform staff training and help to improve the lives of the people that we support.

Thank you very much

(Netta Goodban -  The Priory Autism Training - December 2022)

Paul's speech was so educative. I have never heard Autism explained like this. Could you please share the slides? I wish to listen to it again.

Wow, I was wondering what Autism as a Fruit Salad means. I now understand. It was a great speech.

I like the fact that Paul told his Autism story in a way that helps us understand the condition in a more detailed angle.

I love Paul's speech. I can listen to it every day and will not get tired.

I hope Paul will come and present next year. Will look forward to it.

(Autism & SEND Ghana Show May 2023)

Paul Isaacs Autism Advocate was incredible, such an insightful hour he provided. We are very keen to hear from him again

We were completely blown away by Paul Isaacs Autism Advocate . Paul opened our minds towards the consideration of Autism as a fruit salad.

Paul encouraged us to consider our own traits, experiences and behaviours and then related them to experiences and the realities of autism. Paul was rightly described as a genius be another early year’s colleague and we agreed.

His delivery style was hard hitting in places, super informative and also really funny. But most of all, we again came away inspired, with lots to think about, to ensure our setting always continues to nurture and support every child to achieve their full potential. Thank you Paul, we could have listened to you all day!

(North Cornelly Community Playgroup - Early Years Wales Conference - June 2023)

We have just been going through the feedback forms you scored 5, you were thought provoking, excellent guy. We did not have one bad thing about the whole day.

Thank you so much it gave us lots to think about.

Me and Paddy took so much from what Paul spoke about and it was wonderful to hear how it felt from an autistic person's perspective and the struggles he has been through and still going through. How his parents support him and how he has clearly grown to be an intelligent, caring and inspirational man who has encouraged me to keep going with my daughter and not to completely beat myself up that life is going to be a lot harder for her than other children.

Tanya and Paddy

Great that Paul spoke so candidly about his life and it just shows that every person with autism is an individual with different opinions and views. His view of life with autism was very different to any other speaker we’ve listened to.

I wasn’t aware of the different personality traits he described. Really interesting when thinking about my whole family as well as my autistic daughter.

The whole morning had a huge impact on me - it has make me view my daughter and my interactions with her in a completely different way.

Thank you Paul for travelling down to speak. Hope to see you again sometime.

Jenny

Hi Debbie thank you for organising this. The talk was absolutely brilliant and so helpful to see things through the eyes of an autistic person. It’s a shame we run out of time and people had to leave! I felt like I didn’t get to thank him properly so will be in touch. I took many great things away from the presentation.

The event last Saturday with Paul Isaacs was excellent. He was most informative and it was really good to hear about new insights from possible birth related issues that could have an impact on autism.

I hope he does well in his new business and he should talk to the health professionals who need more information on diagnosing children from an early age.

All the best, Annabella

I found it a very interesting talk. I thought Paul was really knowledgeable and it was a good session. I felt I learnt a lot from it.

Andy

I found him very interesting of course, and was interested in how involved the parents were. They didn’t seem to mind the length of the talk! I could have done with a shorter preamble but as soon as he got on to the actual problems his birth caused I was fascinated. Fortunately I took fairly copious notes which I think I can decipher.

I really wish that teachers could read his book and will recommend it both to the Sheiling and to Portfield. However rare his total problems may be certain of them are mind opening.

Joan (Governor at Portfield School and Trustee at Sheiling School)

Fascinating! Really thought provoking, loved the way we could ask questions throughout so it wasn’t just a presentation from a power point! Loved the way he was so open to other opinions. I’ve immediately found and conversed with him on social media!

Sarah

I found the talk that Paul gave both interesting and informative. It gave me an insight into how birth complications can affect brain development which made me reflect on my own difficult birth and the impact this may have had on my son.

Paul was very honest and trusting, sharing with us his personal experiences growing up.

Lots of us could relate to some of these with our own children.

There was a lot to think about and many new or unfamiliar terms for me to digest but Paul also gave us some useful websites and recommended some authors which was useful.

Can you pass on my thanks to Paul for travelling to Bournemouth and sharing his experiences with the Umbrella group.

Nicki S

I thought Paul was a great speaker, giving insight into a person living with autism, as well as information to those who have family members with ASD. He certainly brought new ideas to me on the complexities of autism and how it is made up of a ‘fruit salad’ of symptoms behaviours and challenges, which vary in every person with ASD. I’ve started to look at my own son in a different way and rethink why he might be doing what he does.

I felt Paul really relaxed when he was answering questions from parents and I think we could have gone on for longer. I would recommend that Paul introduces a break when he speaks in person as there is a lot to take in. His anecdotal stories were great. I think the examples of the way he has worked with people on the spectrum were enlightening and admire how he has studied individuals to learn the best approach of engaging with them. This is a valuable tool, one of which all the parents present wish they had!

Having gone through so many challenges through life, I cannot believe how Paul has turned into such a kind, empathetic and intelligent guy after all he has been through. I think his parents have a lot to do with it and for that reason we must carry on no matter how hard it gets. There’s nothing more powerful than the love of parents for their children no matter what they throw at us.

It’s heart-warming to hear how Paul is so humble, yet in my eyes achieving so much. He referred to himself and us all as ‘stardust’ which is really rather magical!

Really interesting talk, Paul – I learned so much, thank you.

You broke down a complicated area really well and I feel like I understand my child so much more now.

Brilliant talk, thanks Paul

Paul was very knowledgeable and spoke confidently about the Fruit Salad that is Autism. He shared lots of interesting and helpful information and also spent time engaging well with the group.

Caroline Box, SEND Teacher

Paul was so engaging and knowledgeable, allowing me to view Autism through a totally different lens.

Your A-fest presentation and “Fruit Salad” analogy was really informative and interesting. It gave me an insight into your world and others like yourself living and working in a predominantly Neurotypical and able- bodied society.

Good luck with all your future ventures and I hope to see/ listen to you again.

Louise Allen, ELSA

Paul’s session on ‘autism as a fruit salad’ was inspiring! His knowledge regards differences people may experience was vast and he was able to relate this to real life situations which many of the delegates could relate to. This was complimented by him sharing his lived experiences which contextualised his insight.  I went away from Paul’s session with a greater understanding of the differences experienced by people of different neurotypes. His delivery was engaging and he brought us with him on our journey of discovery! Paul was willing to answer any questions we had which really helped bring this session to life.

Thank you, Paul. I would recommend Paul as an events speaker and will be welcoming him back to Springfields for future events.

I shall be recommending him to my Autism MA Tutor who organises the lectures....ü"  - Parent At NAS Bristol Event 2011

"..I feel that if you touched my colleagues' sensitivities even a fraction of how you touched mine, then your talk would certainly make a difference. As I said yesterday, I felt immense pride to have shared a little of your emotional and painful journey, and to witness what a splendid, articulate and committed young man you have grown into..." - Teacher At Long Crendon School Event 2012

"Paul was one of the most inspirational speakers I have heard and all the parents felt the same.I really feel that all my staff need to hear him talk. He has such an incredible insight into his own challenges and to be able to vocalise this is so helpful for us as teachers.I would really like Paul to speak to our staff so that they also have the opportunity to learn about the challenges many of our pupils are probably having and are not able to vocalise.I feel all teachers who are working with young people on the autistic spectrum should gain the experience and knowledge that Paul can offer." Thanks so much to Paul and Kathy. - Phoenix School Event Autism & Challenging Behaviours 2012

"On Feb 8th at the Phoenix Parent Support Group I listened to a speaker with autism. I hadn't been to this group before, but was made to feel welcome. We met a well-dressed young man called Paul Isaacs who has autism. He was very refreshing and uncovered all different elements of autism and challenging behaviour. He explained to us that he could not see our faces in full, and that the lighting in the room was bouncing of our heads and he could make out an eye or ear, if he focused more. The lights were turned down."

"The main areas he talked about were sensory issues, emotional recognition, communication issues and about using stimming to calm down & process information. We were able to ask lots of questions, which he answered fully. On the whole , he was one of the best speakers I have heard."

"This is the second time I have seen Paul give a talk and he is superb. What a lovely and very intelligent man he is. Paul has a unique style of delivery which captivates the audience. You can tell he has a script but is confident enough to stray from that script when some new examples come into his head. For example I am not sure the analogy of someone with Autism being from another planet was a part of his planned talk but it certainly made the point he was making very clear – as did his reference to Cybermen. He is an ‘old hand’ at delivering talks and this can be seen by the justifiable confidence he has in walking around the ‘stage’ and engaging the audience – either that and to paraphrase another one of your talkers from the sensory issue day – he is a damn fine actor." - Autism Police Training 2012

"I commend the excellent work you are doing with Autism Oxford"  -Rt Hon John Bercow MP, Commons Speaker Speaker's House, House Of Commons 2012

"I am very pleased to have attended a talk last night in Tewkesbury by Paul and to have met him and the lovely lady working with him. I learnt so much and thought Paul was quite remarkable as a person and a speaker. I gained a much deeper understanding of Autism and I'm sure the rest of the audience did too."

"Thank you, keep up the great work and all the very best to you all." - Charlotte Nawrot Attendee at "Living Through The Haze" NAS Gloucestershire 2013

I attended Paul’s talk at the “Autism and Participation” conference.  Paul's talk explained, in an entertaining and powerful way, his extraordinary journey, from someone diagnosed as both deaf and blind (neither of which is true), to eventually getting a diagnosis of autism aged 24.

- Carol Povey - NAS Director of the Centre for Autism, NAS Autism & Participation Event 2014

"I have had the pleasure of seeing Paul Isaacs speak on two occasions, and as a Clinical Psychologist who has specialised in autism for the past 20 odd years, I can say that I have learned an enormous amount from him each time. Paul gives a unique perspective on autism, as a person with classic autism who has moved from being nonverbal to being extremely eloquent, Paul astonishes with his ability to succinctly describe both the joys  and the trials of having autism. He is also “laugh out loud” funny! Health and educational professionals, parents and family members as well as people on the autism spectrum will benefit from hearing him speak. I can highly recommend Paul to you. - Dr Michelle Garnett - Hearts & Minds - Asperger's & Autism - 2 Day Conference 2014
