End of January Update

As January comes to a close thoughts now start to focus on the transect planning for the coming year. I've trialled the GPX feature on the Elekon Batlogger 2.2 firmware, and it looks good. So now it's easy to check that you did actually follow the planned route, and in the case of field transects, check that you did get the coverage you expected... An unexpected feature of 2.2 is that the Batlogger also gives you approximate speed and direction, useful if you lose your bearings.
We are still getting unexpected Pipistrelle activity at the control site, so might do a wider survey at some point.
On the GIS front, I've discovered that a wide range of UK map data is available for free from the UK Ordnance Survey.
