WE MUST
Our scriptures communicate to us glorious ideas and ideals. We must learn to expose ourselves to their magical influence. Our commitment to these ideas and ideals will lead us to beautiful and joyous life. Ref: Preface.
No one does anything without a purpose. If such purpose is to be effective to produce results, the purpose must be inspired by our conviction. Your goal may be to become someone you admire, or simply your goal is to do well in your grade, this principle of conviction applies. Ref: Page 20.
It is unnecessary to brood over inabilities. You simply bring the best in you and start the job in hand. As time passes, we shall discover that some untapped reservoir within us bursts into brilliant efficiency. This is the law. Ref: Page 28.
The intellectual preparedness is called “competency”. For anything we do, we need to be competent. Meaning that we need to collect all the facts and knowledge required to do the task. Or simply, we need to be competent. Ref: Page 31.
Applying your competency to reach your purpose is called “Efficiency”. Many of us are competent but do not apply ourselves; hence the results are mediocre. Efficiency comes because of discipline in your mind. Ref: Page 31.
Now, let us recap. Your strength comes from conviction. Your power comes from devotion. Your efficiency comes from silence. Ref: Page 34.
Your Bhavana (poise) disciplines your mind; and vice versa. So pay absolute importance to your Bhavana: keep your head erect; shoulders well pushed back; chest always high; breathe deeply and consciously. Ref: Page 37.
We must live in self respect and guard our personal dignity. If you don’t respect yourself, why would others respect you? Your sincerity in self respect will lead you to Self respect with big “Self”. Ref: Page 36.
We must be pure in our conviction; sincere in our action; earnest in our actions meaning that we need to be serious in our actions; devote ourselves to the goal as such dedication will be tradition to the generations ahead. As we live in Self respect and for the Beloved, ours will be joyous living. Ref: Page 38.
Daily prayer and regular study of the scriptures are of great value in fixing the fresh creative ideas in us; Frequent contact with masters is called Satsang. Prayer and Satsang together help you live a higher degree of joy and efficiency. You will be able to do better and bigger things in the world. Ref: Page 40.
Let us learn to discriminate between serious and trifling, the permanent and impermanent, the full and empty occupations. Let us employ our precious life moments in seeking and striving to acquire and gain the momentous, the lasting, the full. Ref: Page 43.
Even an intelligent person gets involved in life’s paltry nothings sometimes. He reads significance into insignificant things and get himself tied up with “mental blocks”. Let us learn to ignore the insignificant, the inconvenient and the unsympathetic. Why waste time over them? Rise above them. Ref: Page 44
To work for a great ideal is a privilege of the intelligent. Luck is opportunity availed, and success is luck exploited. We must all work, all through our life, earnestly and dedicated for an inspiring idea, for an honest master. This is the only known way to make our life rewarding and rich in joy and satisfaction, in happiness and contentment. Ref: Page 48.
