Agricultural land along the creek was compulsorily purchased to make a corridor for the F1 freeway and its associated rest area. When works had finished, some of this land was resold for building, but the floodable land along Ourimbah Creek remained in the possession of the RTA (the floodplain) and Wyong Council (the creek banks. This gave our Landcare group an opportunity to restore the original forest. This was well underway in 2010, when the project was in its tenth year.
