1941

The intensive clearance of natural vegetation that started in the 19th century reached its peak round 1940. Then, as farm workers became scarce during World War II, some of the bush came back. Towards the end of the century, much farmland was compulsorily purchased for the roadworks that resulted in the F3 freeway. Some of this land was resold for building. The flood-prone land along Ourimbah Creek remain in the possession of the RMS (the floodplain) and Central Coast Council (the creek banks).
