Group members are encouraged to go to conferences, symposia, and workshops! Here are some regulations that we try to abide by:
Group members are highly encouraged to go to at least one conference a year.
For all meetings, you MUST submit/present an abstract (and always try for a talk), unless you joined the group in the last 6 months.
For senior members, two conferences are encouraged, with the second conference being a specialty conference that no one else from the lab is going to - this is to encourage you to network by yourself!
Attending symposia, workshops, and conferences in the greater Boston area is almost always an automatic yes, especially if they are directly relevant to your research, field of study, or career exploration/aspirations.
Whenever possible, apply for external funding to defray the costs - both internal and external travel awards are available from various sources and often look great on your CV!
To request to go to a conference/symposia/workshop, email Athma with the items below. Plan in advance and ask to go at least 3 months before the registration deadline!
Conference details (including abstract deadlines!)
Sentence about why you want to go and what you hope to get out of it
Preliminary short abstract about what you want to present - send the final full abstract at least 1 week before
