The 2019 PIPC

After the notable success of the third annual conference in Hong Kong, China, the organizers would like to announce the fourth Pacific International Politics Conference (PIPC) has been scheduled for Taipei, Taiwan, 5-6 July 2019. The conference will be hosted by Academia Sinica in Taipei. Taipei is the most prosperous city in Taiwan and famous for fantastic food and cultural sites. Academia Sinica, founded in 1928, enjoys a worldwide reputation for its research in science and humanities.

We hope that the Pacific International Politics Conference will continue to develop as a central forum for scientific researchers of IR in the Asia-Pacific region.

Access and Hotel Information

Transportation from the airport to the hotel:

There are two airports of Taipei: TPE/Tauyuan (major airport) and TSA/Songshan (small airport with a very limited number of international flights). The hotel would help participants to arrange airport pick-up services with additional charges. If you would like to use the service, please provide your flight information in the reservation form.

(1) From TPE/Tauyuan (major airport)

For those who would like to experience the public transportation of Taiwan from the TPE/Taoyuan airport to the conference hotel, the most convenient and cheapest way is to take the airport shuttle bus, Kuo-Kuang Moto Transport Route 1843. The bus schedule can be found here:

The hotel is about 600 meters away from the "MRT Nankang Exhibition Hall Station," which is the second-last station of the Route 1843. Please see the map from the Nankang Exhibition Hall Station to The Place Taipei.

Please note that there is also an airport express metro from the TPE/Taoyuan airport to Taipei city, but we do not recommend it because it will take much more time than the shuttle bus. If someone would still like to take the airport express metro, he or she needs to change to the blue line metro at the Taipei Main Station and head to the Nankang Exhibition Hall Station (BL23).

(2) From TSA/Songshan

For the participants who will arrive Taipei at the TSA/Songshan airport, they can just take a taxi or the brown-line metro to the hotel. As indicated in the map, the hotel locates in front of the "Nankang Software Park Station" of the brown line metro (Station number: BR23).

(3) Transportation from the hotel to Academia Sinica:

The local organizers will arrange shuttle buses between the hotel and Academia Sinica during the conference days.

Conference Program and Instructions

(1) Conference Program

You can down load the program of the 2019 PIPC by clicking here. However, it is the tentative version and we might make small changes before the conference.

(2) Instructions for Panel Chairs

Your tasks are to (1) introduce the author and the paper, (2) keep time, and (3) wrap up the panel.

(3) Instructions for Paper Presenters

Each paper presenter has 30 minutes. Ideally, the presenter give a 10-minute short presentation and spend 20 minutes for interacting with audiences. Audiences start asking questions and giving feedback immediately after the presentation. We have no discussant.

(4) Instructions for Poster Presenters

The area for each poster is 110cm (width) X 130 (height) in maximum. We recommend that you should print your poster at your country and bring it to the conference. If you need to print in Taipei, you should contact local organizers.
