Jiyoung Ko

Jiyoung is an Assistant Professor at Bates College. She completed my Ph.D in Political Science at Yale University in 2017, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Notre Dame International Security Center at University of Notre Dame in 2017-2018.

Her research centers on domestic sources of conflict and peace (with a particular focus on nationalism), nuclear proliferation, and alliance politics. I use experimental, quantitative, and qualitative methods to identify causal effects and uncover the underlying mechanisms at play. Her work has been published in the Journal of Peace Research and Foreign Policy Analysis.

She has a regional specialization in East Asia. Jiyoung has conducted several rounds of fieldwork in China, Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea.
