Questions and Problems
Do you have any good books?
Problem: Is the student having trouble identifying his/her own areas of interest or in communicating those interests to the listener?
Where are the books about ________?
Problem: Student does not know how the library is organized.
What do you mean Fiction and Nonfiction?
Problem: We are using vocabulary that students need to acquire.
Are any of the Maniac Magee books in?
Problem: Students do not know that they can do an electronic search, or what they can find in doing a search.
Students ask their questions, but it is up to us to identify the real problem.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could find a book about a special topic you have in mind?

Goal:
Students will be able to self-select their book of choice from the shelves for personal reading.
Learning Objectives
Students will be able to create a poster grouping fiction and nonfiction book covers into their categories.
Students will be able to look up a book within the online catalog and determine if the book is currently available in the library.
Students will be able to determine the book's location from the catalog entry (fiction or nonfiction section) and retrieve the book from the shelves.
