If you're looking for music suggestions for a dance lesson, music that you can practice to, a party/dance playlist, or you are trying to learn how to recognize samba music, look no further!

Here is a YouTube playlist collection of music that you can samba to. Samba is a Brazilian dance and musical genre with roots in African music and the African slave trade in South America. It is most recognized for developing as an urban dance form in Rio de Janeiro and as the symbol for the Brazilian Carnival as the ultimate party dance style.

Modern samba music is mostly 2/4 time (although it can be danced to some 4/4 music) and is traditionally played with stringed instruments, indigenous and African percussion instruments, and later added brass instruments from the jazz era. Although it began with Afro-Caribbean rhythms, samba now shows influences from jazz, rock, bossa nova, reggae, funk, and more, even rap music. Today, the samba can be danced to a number of musical genres, as long as the song is an upbeat song with a fast tempo, has a "party" feel to it, and has the characteristic syncopation that allows the dancers to do the basic "ball change" step.

Some of the songs might be repeated because there are different covers and styles of the same song, so if you don't like one version, you might like another version. There is a variety of different styles and genres so you're sure to find something that will suit you! If you can't see the playlist video, you may need to click on the title of the post to go to the post's page directly. If you still can't see it, please let us know! You can also click on the link to view the playlist on YouTube itself.

To watch a YouTube playlist, all you have to do is click on the "play" button or anywhere in the middle of the player window and the first song will start playing. It will automatically play the next song after the current song is over. If you would like to skip ahead to another song, the video window needs to be playing something first, so if you haven't already clicked the "play" button, do that first.

Then, while the video is playing, move your mouse over the window. A bar at the bottom will pop up with a variety of buttons. On the bottom right, the first or second icon from the left should be a symbol of several lines like a list. Click that button and the playlist will pop up on top of the video window. It's hard to see but there is a scroll bar on the right-hand side that you can drag down to see the entire list. Then you can click on any song in the playlist and skip right to it. If you want to close the playlist window and go back to the current video window, just click again on that little lined symbol down at the bottom right of the window.
