If you're looking for music suggestions for a dance lesson, music that you can practice to, a party/dance playlist, or you are trying to learn how to recognize nightclub two-step music, look no further!
Here is a YouTube playlist collection of music that you can nightclub two-step to. The Nightclub Two-Step is not the Country & Western Two-Step (sometimes also known as the Texas Two-Step) that is done in country nightclubs. The Nightclub Two-Step is a social / ballroom / partner dance done in place (like swing dance), called a spot dance, to slow music with a quick-quick-slow rhythm. Country Two-Step is usually a fast traveling step done in the line of dance (walking around the dance floor in a circle like a roller rink) with a quick-quick-slow-slow rhythm (like Foxtrot) and often danced by the two partners in a side-by-side position.
This dance is an easy playful dance that can be done to many pop songs. It is done to 4/4 time music and has similar patterns to those found in Salsa, although the style of this dance is much slower and smoother. This is a popular dance among wedding couples as it is usually a good tempo for the slower romantic ballads.
Some interesting trivia about this dance: the Nightclub Two-Step was invented by Buddy Schwimmer back in 1965 when he was just 15 years old. Buddy is the father of none other than Benji Schwimmer, the Season 2 champion of So You Think You Can Dance, and Lacy Schwimmer who came in fourth place in Season 3 of So You Think You Can Dance and then went on to be one of the professional dancers on Dancing With The Stars! Buddy wanted a nice-looking partner dance to do to slow songs because he decided that holding on to his partner and swaying from side to side wasn't good enough. So he developed this dance with his sister, based off a popular line dance at the time called the Surfer Stomp.
Ironically, the Country Two-Step is done in country nightclubs, while the Nightclub Two-Step is rarely done in nightclubs, but in ballroom dance clubs instead.
Some of the songs may be repeated because there are different covers and styles of the same song, so if you don't like one version, you might like another version. There are a variety of different styles and genres so you're sure to find something that will suit you!
