Max was our first beardie and was the sweet old man in residence. He ruled the house with an iron paw and a firm eye, but he was a benevolent ruler. Together we tackled conformation, agility, obedience, herding, and therapy work for the first time! My first champion, all owner handled, Max also showed such an affinity for agility that we finished his agility championship as well! He brought me into the world of beardies and showed us the joys of the breed.
"It is always a delight to see how well our older dogs are holding up and this boy is no exception. He came into the ring and strutted himself around the ring shaved with nothing to hide. He is balanced in his angles front and back. He has good substance with a solid rear. He has a nice dark eye with good pigment. He was happy to be out there with his lady." -- Breeder-judge Kirsten Andreassand, BCCA National Specialty
"Striking black dog with such an inviting expression. Wonderful nature, in great condition, moving positively." -- Breeder-judge Amy Steltz, NCBCF Specialty
Bred by Jane Cooper (Alamos Bearded Collies) and co-owned with Beth Tilson (Highlander Bearded Collies), Max was a once-in-a-lifetime beardie! Though he lived to nearly 16 years old, it wasn't long enough and we are heartbroken at his passing.
“To call him a dog hardly seems to do him justice, though inasmuch as he had four legs, a tail, and barked, I admit he was, to all outward appearances. But to those of us who knew him well, he was a perfect gentleman.” ― Hermione Gingold
