IMPORTANT POINTS
================
> adautostg.pl script to be used for staging R12 software.
> In R12, the concept of admin server is obsolete
> Apache log files can be located under $LOG_HOME/ora/10.1.3/Apache directory
> Linux is NOT certified as a client tier
> In R12 the concept for Applications nodes has changed. All the servers on a multi-node environment will have the same files so
it can potentially start any service if needed(Note: 415385.1 - On a R12 Multi-Node Install -- Why do all Middle Tiers run all Services?)
> If you are low on memory, you can set the sga_target to 300M, pga_aggregate_target to 200M
> you would have to take into account firewall issues, and add in the ports you need access to into the /etc/sysconfig/iptables file (and then restart
the iptables service). Once you do this you should be able to use your IE browser from your host to connect into ports served on your linux box.
> BASIC STEPS FOR MULTI-NODE INSTALLATION :
1. Copy stage both server
2. Create same mount point both server (let us say /u01)
3. Create same folder on both server under /u01 (let us say /u01/PROD)
4. Give 777 permission to stage and /u01/PROD folder
5. Dont forget to both server entery to /etc/hosts on both server
6. Start installation first db side
7. While you are making multinode installation copy config.txt to apps server
8. Start installation on apps server and give config.txt for instalaltion
PS: Ofcourse create user :)
> Add an entry in the hosts file on the Windows machine to contain the IP Address as well as the hostname.domainname of the application server
(make sure you can ping the Linux server from the Windows client), and add the application URL to the trusted sites list in IE
> If you want to go with traditional multi-node installation, please do the following:
- Once you are done with first node OS installation, create the R12 stage area directory
- Clone this image (refer to VMware documentation for details -- Referenced below)
- Start up the new image and change the hostname and the IP Address
- Reboot the second node image and make sure it is running properly
- Start RapidWiz on the database tier (Node 1)
- Copy the configuration file to the other node (from Node 1 to Node 2)
- Run RapidWiz on the application tier (Node 2)
- Test the application
> The config file would save your time instead of entering the same configuration details on
other node(s). In addition, it tells RapidWiz what tasks should be done on the current node.
