3D models

This page is dedicated to displaying the 3D models that are mentioned in other pages.

To view them, a viewer is supplied - Virtue3D-Optimizer.

7-Unzip, Unrar and double-click. It opens VTU, WRL, 3DS, OBJ, PLY and STL formats, for viewing and for several basic alterations.

Don't know how-to UNRAR or 7-ZIP? they are common compression utilities, just like WinZip. links here, too.

Viewing options are all available through the menu items, and also:

Rotate the camera view: left-mouse drag

Zoom the camera view: right-mouse drag (down=nearer)

Pan (translate) the camera view: both mouse buttons drag (down=down, etc.)

Toggle Headlight (on/off): 'h'

Toggle Backface culling: 'b'

Toggle textures: 't'

Re-center a model: 'c'

Wireframe view-mode: 'w'

Flat-face view-mode: 'f'

Smooth (Goraud shading) view-mode: 'g'

More options:

Changing the background: View->Environment (colors or background image).

Applying different Color, Shininess & Transparency to a selected shape: in Appearance tab, on a singly-selected shape.

Applying different texture to a selected shape: in Appearance tab, on a singly-selected shape, Change Image button.

Most recommended: Applying reflective feature to selected shape:

View->Environment->Reflection - choose an image for the reflection, and check the Reflection box of selected shape in Appearance tab. Especially impressive for models without textures or colors (which are the majority).

Suggested experiments: Choose a small model with few shapes, and try applying several different reflective surfaces to it. Try it with Flat shading, no lights, no textures, transparency, etc.
