Missouri Storm Shutters are functional shutters ("shutters that actually shut"). They operate on sliding door hardware, and are sourced from weather-damaged hardwood trees.
Missouri Storm Shutters are designed to be naturally attractive, while also adding a layer of physical security - as well as thermal & acoustic insulation - to residential structures.
Our shutters are fabricated in layers:
FRONT: hardwood - stained & sealed
MIDDLE: hempitecture rigid foam insulation (thermal & acoustic properties)
BACK: steel mesh security screen
We include strong hand-held magnets or cable-tethered counterweights to assist shutter closure
We plan to work with Skera Woodworks, Radial Magnets, Rustic Grain, EisenBaum WoodShop and others to manufacture at scale (by licensing our designs to others)
Pricing: our estimated cost structure per shutter pair:
materials: $600
design & build: 8hrs x $25/hr = $200
transport & install: 4hrs x $25/hr = $100
admin & overhead: $100
TOTAL: $1,000 (+ tax)
> may qualify for federal "Residential Energy Tax Credit"
> may qualify for MO DNR "Weatherization Assistance Program"
> we suggest starting with bedrooms or street-facing ground floor windows first
