Critical Care/ICU Resident Orientation

Please meet with the scheduled Intensivist at 8 a.m. in the ICU on the 6th Floor, Southeast Wing.
Meet our Intensivists:
Dr B Katchan - Dr. Katchan received his Doctorate of Medicine at McGill University in 1992. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 1996.
Dr V Lee - Dr. Lee received her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Western Ontario in 1987. She completed her Fellowship in Internal Medicine in 1991, Fellowship in Infectious Diseases in 1992, and Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine in 1996.
Dr D McRitchie - Dr. McRitchie received her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1985. She completed her Medicine Internship at the University of Toronto in 1986 and her General Surgery Residency in 1992. Dr McRitchie received a Surgical Critical Care Certificate in 1995.
Dr B Minnema - Dr. Minnema received his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2005. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Toronto in 2008 and a Fellowship in Clinical Infectious Diseases at the University of Toronto in 2010. Dr Minnema completed a Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2012.
Dr P Shin - Dr. Shin received his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 2001. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Toronto in 2005 and completed his Fellowship in Adult Critical Care at the University of Toronto in 2006.
Dr K Sanders- Dr. Sanders received his Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Toronto in 1999. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Toronto in 2002 and completed his Fellowship in Respirology and Critical Care at the University of Toronto in 2005. Dr Sanders completed a Masters of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Toronto in 2007.

Rotation Evaluation:
Please have each physician you work with complete an Encounter Card. You can leave the completed forms in the Intensivist office in the Unit. It is your responsibility to schedule an exit interview with Dr. Shin or Dr. Minnema. Please contact me to schedule this.
Conflicts or Concerns:
If conflicts or problems arise during your elective, discuss them with the education directors (Dr. Phil Shin or Dr. Brian Minnema).
