Your elective preceptor is responsible for completing your rotation evaluation. During your elective, please let Sally know the contact information for your elective preceptor so that she can add the electives forms onto Power for them to complete on your behalf. The evaluations are the standard evaluations used for all other rotations and rate you based on your core competencies and CanMeds roles.
If you were planning on asking your preceptor for a reference letter for fellowship applications, it is recommended that you let them know this earlier on in your elective so they can make sure that they observe you for enough clinical time to be able to complete an honest and accurate reference letter. Some electives (ER in particular) may schedule you with many different preceptors during your rotation, making it hard for you to get a reference letter from that rotation, so it’s better you let them know of your intentions early on.
University of Toronto Postgraduate Medical Education has created an online electives directory through POWER (https://power.utoronto.ca). After logging on to POWER with your username and password, you’ll see ‘Search Electives’ on the left-hand panel. Click on it, and from there you’ll be able to search electives by Department.
