Landmasses

There are eight main continents on Norindaal.

An-Mòr

Inhabited by humans, elves, dwarves, halflings and fungi folk in the North and Center, and home to the Dorantian Empire in the South, An-Mòr is blessed by plenty of water, temperate climate and fertile soil all over its surface. Only the Northern cape, Winterhome, is so cold as to be habitable only by giants and trolls. Orcs are present in large numbers in their "nation", Orrika Dur. these orcs are very superstitious and in awe of magic, a weakness that the orc-hunting elves of Elidran like to exploit. While other orc tribes on Norindaal aren't afraid of magic and may be more civilized, the orcs of Orrika Dur (especially the Kardka tribes) have spread the cultural stereotype of the savage, magic-fearing orc all over the world.

Dorantia is the largest settlement of the world, with a population of nearly one million souls, most of them humans, but there are halfling, dwarven and wood elf minorities that are well integrated with the human majority. Dorantia is both the name of the Empire and the name of the Golden City, thus called because of its wealth and because of the yellow golden color of plaster used on the major buildings.

The South, technically under Dorantian rule, is a vast expanse of jungle infested by Lizardmen, Thunder Lizards and forest giants.

Kardalok

An-Mòr and Kardalok are called the Siblings because they have much in common, and they are both dominated by human cultures. Kardalokans tend to be less civilized and culturally open than the Dorantians. The main settlement is Tezany's Cove, a large seaport. In the North, Ice Volcanoes spew frozen gases that lower the temperature below freezing for miles, creating an inhospitable land where only yetis, ice trolls, and the Snow Elves of Llirian can thrive.

The South is dominated by insect men cultures: the Myrmecans (Ant Men) on the West and the Melittans (Bee-Folk) on the East.

Qaarra

A once civilized area of human and elven settlements, Qaarra has been devastated by Dark Elves who caused volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.Dark Elves pirate ships still haunt the small cluster of islands North East of the main landmass. To the visitor, Qaarra today is a land of abandoned villages, ruins, and undead creatures. And plenty of Riches for those who are courageous enough.

Enotria

Enotria is also known, for good reasons, as the land of spice and wine. Centaurs, Fauns and nymphs live in idyllic landscape and trade wine, oil, perfumes and spices with seamen from Qaarra, An-Mòr, and Kardalok.

Edda

Edda is a frozen continent. The closer you move towards Mount Frost, in the center of the landmass, the colder it gets. In the center, only ice worms and giant white bears thrive. Human barbaric tribes and orcs live on the coasts, especially in the small peninsula that is between Enotria and Ssiklia. This is the most fertile, warmest region.

Ssiklia

Originally called Monda Daenar, which ironically means Land of the Free Men, Ssiklia have been conquered by the Lyzaris empire. The few humans who were not enslaved or eaten fight a continuous guerrilla to break free of the Lizardmen rule. This resistance is strongest in the near island of Fan-Zi, where a family of Celestial Golden Unicorns (Ki-rin) leads the human rebels against their scaly oppressors.

Andamon

Andamon is the less populated continent. The North is inhabited by Catfolk, especially in the large citadel of Lionhome. The desertic middle hosts An-Nur, a human nation where seven nomadic tribes, each led by a Nomad Prince, wage war against each other. An-Nur is a land of mysterious Djinns and loathsome Ghuls. A large, active volcano called the Everflame threatens the South, were a large community of Sand Goblins lives in underground tunnels under ever-shifting sand dunes. The White Skull island area in the south is a land of pirates. The Tori Islands are inhabited by Bird-men races.

Atlis (the Sunken Continent)

Atlis is sunken in the Sea of Storms, between An-Mòr and Kardalok.Originally inhabited by a very civilized race of blue-skinned humans who mastered a now-forgotten advanced technology, it was nearly destroyed by the gods during the Century of rain and Fire. Some Atlisseans survived by accepting a pact with Tezany and Xichtul, and were mutated into water-breathing,monstrous fish-man hybrids. Others fled to the coasts of Kardalok, where they cohabit with Sea Elves and Humans, defending the coasts from their mutant cousins.
