I couldn't find the bike I wanted (a 2007-2008 Schwinn Super Sport) either locally, or reasonably online, and then, period--these things are scarce! So I'm gonna hafta assemble it myself. This webpage will detail my buildup!
11/11/11--Update...I was searching Craigzoom for some bikes like I always do, and some more Super Sports started turning up, but they were either XL and too far away and too expensive...went to Nashbar "on a hunch" and lo and behold, they NOW had Super Sport (Ultra 1) frames for sale--for $50 AND 15% off that!!! Yeah, that's HALF what I paid for the Fastback frame--arrrgh!!!...so after a day of mulling it over, you know I had to buy that Super Sport frame...so now the Fastback frame is up for sale!
11/18/11--Update...sold the 2007 Schwinn Fastback frame on ebay for $110 (incl. shipping)
02/18/12--Update...Bought a 2009 Schwinn Super Sport for the sweet, sweet price of $180!!! Yeah, was looking on Craigzoom a few days earlier, found one that Thursday (2/16). Wasn't really the one I wanted, as it's an XL, but decided to email the seller anyway. (My plan was/is to use it for parts for the frame I already have, since it will cost me $200 in parts (not counting the fork!) to put that one together). They still had it, setup a meeting for saturday (2/18) morning. He was asking $200, I was prepared to pay that, but really wanted it for $180 or $190, luckily for me, the seat clamp broke as he was trying to adjust it so he knocked $20 off the price!
02/19/12--Update...took the clipless pedals off
02/20/12--Found the LH crank/pedal from my old Royce Union bike (it was laying next to it!), so put those pedals on the Super Sport and took it for a test drive...had to tighten the seat clamp some more, but it seemed to do ok!
02/21/12--Put the clipless pedals on ebay for $23, free shipping.
02/27/12--Pedals sold!
02/28/12--Pedals shipped! ($9.68)
03/16/12--Listed the Thomson seatpost on ebay
03/17/12--Sold the Thomson seatpost! ($60 total, free shipping)
03/19/12--Shipped the Thomson seatpost ($6.10)
04/29/12--Attempted to ride to the Inman Park Festival and got two (2), yes, TWO flats before i got out of the gate good! Most likely happened when I jumped the curbs at full speed!
05/06/12--Bought two (2) WTB (Wilderness Trail Bikes) 700x38c Pathway tires and two (2) Novara 700 x 35/43 tubes...one of the tubes was defective (had a bent valve stem, i tried to straighten it and it broke), but managed to get the other tire on and mounted
05/07/12--Exchanged the inner tube, mounted and installed the tire, but it rubs bad against the front of the chainstay!
05/20/12--Edgewood
05/21/12--Edgewood
05/22/12--Edgewood
05/25/12--Inman ride; later, went bike looking with b, bought a 700cx35 rear at Perfomance
05/26/12--Put on the new rear tire, haven't tested it yet
05/29/12--The front fork came in
05/31/12--Bought $2.67 worth of hardware at Ace, hope it works! update...it didn't work, the lower fender washer split in two...apparently, i didn't need a press at all...looks like integrated bearings don't get pressed in, the star nut/cap does the tightening...hope i didn't damage the frame! gonna try and get a pvc tubing tomorrow, or just try and install the race with a punch
06/03/12--Didn't need any of that...got the pvc tubing (6/2), and drove the race in
06/04/12--"installed" the fork, measured the headset, cut the tube (yup!)
06/06/12--Just went to ACE and bought $2.20 worth of bolt and washer, hope this works!...nope, kept going in twisted...then thought i had mangeld the star-fangled nut...decided to try it again using just the long bolt (as several websites suggested)...had to keep tapping the bolt sideways to straighten it up, but it's in there, and the top cap bolt goes in what-appears-to-be straight and it puts pressure on the cap and stem...done...oh, rode to Inman before that
06/07/12--Ordered brake levers, handlebar, skewers and front brake from Sportzoo
06/08/12--Decatur Station route (that B doesn't like!)

06/18/13 - The rear tire was flat...aired it up, rode the trainer, got flat during the ride...
06/19/13 - Got a new rear inner tube from Performance (a puncture resistant one)...it's NOTICEABLY THICKER than the previous one...put it on and rode the trainer, seems to be holding up ok (the tire gets HOT)
