Water Usage
The water usage rates have increased dramatically in the City of Pittsburgh, PA. These increases are causing a $10,000 deficit in the "Niagara Square Annual Water Budget". Therefore, the Executive Board is requesting that Unit Owners take a proactive approach to reduce water usage:
Check for faucet and pipe leaks in the kitchen, bathroom (tubs, sinks, showers) and laundry areas.
Check toilets for constant running/leaks – Put a little food coloring in your toilet tank. If the color begins to appear in the bowl within 30 minutes, you have a leak that should be repaired immediately.
·Replace old toilets – toilets are the largest water user in the home (new high-efficiency toilets flush at 1.28 gallons or less while older ones can use up to 7 gallons per flush
Insulate your water pipes – you will get hot water faster and avoid wasting water while the water heats up.
Be mindful of all your water usage. Remember, it is your money that pays for the water.
If Association Owners are proactive, this will help to minimize a necessary increase in the monthly fees because of the City's aggressive rate increases. rate increases.
