Silent Auction 2016

This year we will hold our second Silent Auction at the Annual Meeting.

Purpose: The purpose of the auction is to generate funds to be administered and expended at the discretion of the NGMB Executive Committee. Possible uses of the proceeds of the silent auction include awards, as funds for invited speaker’s expenses, or for the general functioning of the NGMB.

Items to be auctioned: The items offered for auction are donated by the membership, attendees, or any other interested parties. Items can be of any value, handmade or purchased. Donating is completely voluntary and not meant to be a requisite of attending any of the various meeting functions.

You must register your Item(s) and submit one or two images of each. Deadline for receipt of your image(s) will be the Friday before the meeting date, 15 January 2016.

Remote donation: If you cannot bring your item(s) to the meeting you may still contribute to auction by submitting 1 or more image of the item(s) to be auctioned.

Participation: The auction is open to everyone associated with the meeting, their guests, or the public. Participation is 100% voluntary. Everyone is eligible to bid on an item even if they did not donate an item.

To do so you must register online by the Friday before the meeting date, 15 January 2016, to receive in reply a bidder’s number (see Rules below) and instructions on how the bidding will proceed. With this email you must also provide the Secretary with the email you will for all communication for and after the bidding.

Remote Bidding: You may participate in auction bidding though not present at the meeting.

At the close of bidding Contributors will be provided with the name(s) and address(s) or the person(s) winning their item(s). They will be responsible for prompt shipment of the item(s) to the winner(s).

Silent Auction General Rules:

  1. Prior to the auction, a bidder’s number will be assigned to anyone wishing to participate. This number will be used in the bidding for items so nobody will know who is bidding or who a person is bidding against.

  2. Auction items with a bid ledger will be displayed for each item. The ledger will be used to record bids. The time when the bidding for each item closes will be listed on each item’s ledger.

  3. Bidding will close at the time posted and the designated auction clerk will announce the successful winners. The winners will pay the clerk following the auction.

  4. Any items not bidden on will be returned to the person donating the item. It can be an option that an item could be used as a door prize or a gift to meeting presenters as the donator wishes.
