Inspire Programme

Prof Dr Ihsan Ali, a well known Archaeologist and Vice Chancellor Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan has proceeded to UK in connection with a project of British Council “INSPIRE PROGRAMME”. The main purpose and objective of the said program is to explore and conduct research in Chitral, in order to unearth and bring into limelight the hidden and unexplored treasure of knowledge in Chitral. The project is jointly conducted by the Leicester University, UK, Abdul Wali Khan University, Mardan and Hazara University, Mansehra. The University of Leicester is represented by Dr. Ruth Young, AWKUM and HU by Prof. Dr. Ihsan Ali, Vice Chancellor of both the universities along with Dr. Ibrahim Shah, Chairman Department of archaeology, Hazara University, Mansehra. The venture is extended over a period of three years.

The project will enable the scholars and students of all three Universities to exchange visits, aiming at conducting excavation and exploration in Chitral to share their experiences and knowledge in this regards.

More over, in addition to their visit to University of Leicester, they will be paying visits to the universities of Durham, London and Cambridge to meet the experts in south Asian Archaeology for finding new ways and avenues for further collaboration, training and research in both the countries in future.
