If you are a Devon Rex breeder:
In the interests of improving the Devon Rex breed and to increase the bloodlines available we may occasionally sell a kitten to another Devon Rex breeder on the GCCF active register - these are more expensive than pet kittens.
Before we agree to sell to another breeder we will require a letter from thier vet to confirm that he/she feels they are a responsible and reputable breeder. This does not guarrantee that we will sell that breeder a kitten. Our cats and kittens, our reputatation and our prefix are precious to us and we do not want them to be abused.
If you buy a pet kitten on the GCCF non-active register we will not transfer it to the active register at a later date so be honest about your intentions before you buy not after!
There is a kitten sales agreement which you will be required to read and sign before the kitten leaves me. By signing this form you agree to the conditions stated within it. Anyone who is found to breach the agreement willl be prosecuted. I have spent 13 years of my life employed in animal law enforcement and will not hesitate to enforce the agreement through the courts. The agreement is a legally binding contract and we will both have a signed and dated copy.
Since I have just successfully taken someone to court for this very reason I thought I would make it extra clear here...I wont be conned and I wont have my cats abused in any way. If thats fine with you...good, read on...if it isn't then go somewhere else!
We also require that the following information is provided: There are no right or wrong answers we just need to know the following before making a decision:
Your full name:
Address:
Phone number:
Your experience as a breeder?
Do your cats live in a cattery or in the house?
Are you aware of the Devon Rex blood groups and their implications?
Do you own your own stud cat and what blood group is he?
If no stud of your own then where do you plan to source a stud cat from?
If you are unhappy about giving this information then save yourself the time - we wont consider selling you a kitten without it.
Our cats are not inbred - we do not carry out brother to sister, father to daughter, or mother to son matings. We have a special computer programme with all our cats pedigrees on it so that we can run an inbreeding check before carrying out a mating. It helps that my partner is a computer programmer!! Our aim is to provide you with a happy healthy pet who will be a much loved member of your family for many years to come.
After having conversations recently with several people new to breeding Devons I feel that I must state clearly - be careful who you ask to mentor you and give you advice. A number of people have been told by another breeder that blood type doesnt matter - this is a blatant lie - it does matter. If you take your girl to stud and the stud owner does not ask what blood group she is ...run away!! If the stud owner doesnt know what blood group their boy is dont go there, and if the owner of the queen wants to use your boy and has no idea what blood group thier queen is send them packing! Do your research - I'm not going to explain here why it's so important - do your research and find out before you even think about breeding and preferably before you speak to me about it. I like people who want to learn, that are prepared to show willing and put the work in and if you dont have time for that then you dont have time to breed Devons.
