Registration Information

Neskarex Registration Agreement

All my breeding cats are GCCF (Governing Council of The Cat Fancy) registered active – this means they are registered as breeding animals. All my kittens are registered with the GCCF on the non-active register which means they are registered as pet kittens only – they can be shown but not bred from.

Only the breeder can change a kitten from the non-active to the active register. Until recently this was done by a series of form filling in and a payment from the breeder.

Due to changes in registration methods the breeder can now do this on-line or over the phone – which makes it possible for someone to pass themselves off as the breeder and re-register the kitten as a breeding animal when it may not be suitable for that purpose. They will then either use the kitten to breed from or sell it on at a much inflated cost since a pet/show kitten costs around £475 but a breeding quality fully breed registered kitten sold on the active register costs from around £800 upwards.

Recently someone came here to buy a kitten saying they wanted her as a pet only but they asked some very odd questions – and I felt that something wasn’t right – they were not the kind of questions a pet owner asked but they were the kind of questions a breeder asks. I sent them packing and did a little research on the phone number they had called me on only to fond that they were selling various pedigree kittens all active registered. This is unacceptable so from now on our procedure will be as follows: Kittens will be registered non-active unless otherwise agreed prior to sale as usual. The difference will be that we will not give the buyer the registration paper. If you are buying the kitten to show you will need the reg paper so as soon as the kitten is spayed or castrated, you will need to send us proof from your vet, then we will send the paper on to you. This must be done before the kitten is one year old – after that the registration paper will remain in our files for the extent of the cats life.

If you are buying the kitten as a pet you will not need the registration paper at all so it will simply remain in our files – if would like it – that’s fine – follow the procedure above and once we have received evidence from your vet of spay or castrate we will send the reg paper on to you. Again if we do not receive confirmation from your vet before the cat is one year old the papers will remain here on our file for the remainder of the cats life.

This is a step we have taken to protect our kittens and our bloodlines

You must sign this document below to show that you understand why we are taking these measures and that you are in full agreement with them. You will be given one copy of this document for your records and we will keep the other one.
