Users will see a banner before joining a call that says “Meet has a new look” when this refreshed user interface is enabled for them.
Use of Chrome extensions (including the Grid View extension) could impact your experience. Uninstalling any extensions that interact with Google Meet could resolve this.
For better presentations and to avoid mirroring, share a different window or a specific tab instead of the meeting window.
In some cases, your self-view could appear with gray bars at the top and bottom to show you everything your camera sees. Other participants might see a cropped version of your video feed. See how
Mute all Google Meet participants at once
Meeting hosts in Google Workspace can now mute everyone all at once in Google Meet (wouldn't this feature be nice in-person situations😉) See how
Just leave the Call or End Call for All
Google added a new feature recently that you might have noticed. When you click the red hang icon up to leave your call, it asks you if you want to Just leave the call or End the call for everyone. If you end the call for everyone, it automatically kicks everyone out AND keeps them from rejoining without you there. When you start the meeting again, you will have to go in and admit each student.
HOWEVER, when you return to the meet again, you can go to the host controls by clicking on the blue shield and turning quick access back on so you don't have to admit each student (see screenshots below) Hope this helps!
Join a meeting with new options on the Google Meet landing page :: When you click “New meeting,” you’ll now see the following three options :: Create a meeting for later, Start an instant meeting, Schedule in Google Calendar. (Note - you will still be able to enter a meeting code or nickname to join a meeting
If a meeting organizer allows a Google account outside your domain to join a Google Meet, the organizer is never prompted again to approve/prevent this same Google account from joining that particular meeting.
If a Google Meet organizer shares the dial-in phone number and PIN along with the meeting ID, anyone with the phone number and PIN can join the meeting without any approval whatsoever.
Tips to have a safe digital classroom:
1) Avoid creating ongoing and/or recurring Google Calendar meetings.
2) Do not allow outside participants into your class meetings.
3) Users must use their "mrpk.org" account to login to meetings.
4) When creating a Google Meet, use Google Meet Nicknames.
5) Avoid sharing dial-in information unless absolutely necessary. (For your students' safety, we have disabled dialing-in)
It is highly recommend to uninstall any extensions for Grid View that you have installed as these can cause issues now that Google has updated to include this feature.
Google Meet Basics Video conferencing :: allows you to connect and collaborate with your collegues/students/parents in real time.
I have had some questions about adding a recurring event in Canvas Calendar for your Google Meet. There are 2 options :
You can add the event and duplicate it for 294 (days until June 11). It will add it to Saturdays and Sundays, but you can delete those events if you wish.
You can recur it 4 times and just update the events every week.
